26The following appeared in a memo from the chairperson of the school board in the town of Saluda.

"For the past five years, Mr. Charles Schade has been the music director at Steel City High School, and during that time the school band from Steel City High has won three regional band competitions. In addition, the quality of the music rehearsal facilities and musical instruments at Steel City High has improved markedly over the past five years. Because of such successes at Steel City High, the Saluda school board should hire Mr. Schade to plan and direct the general music education programs for the entire Saluda school system."

•1.论断的前提是目前整个学校系统的普通音乐教育课程没有人指导，或是指导的人不好。但论没有提供任何资料以确保这个前提成立。如果本来没有人指导，那么是否需要有人去做这件事？如果已经有人，那么为什么这个人做得一定没有Mr. Charles Schade好？这些论断都没有告诉我们，这个前提也就不一定成立。
       
2.•论断认为Mr.Schade非常成功，并引用他这五年在钢铁中学的成绩来说明。但这个论据中却有很多疑点。首先钢铁中学原来的音乐教育情况怎样？Mr.Schade是否使这一点更好了？这个学校是不是特别重视音乐教育，另外，Steel City High School和Steel City的音乐氛围是很关键的，如果当地本来就是传统的音乐城市，这方面的教育必然是强项，然而，Saluda的情况就不一定如此了；？没有这些资料，论断无法证明学校的成绩是因为Mr.Schade而取得的。

4.结论：论断考虑不周全。他既没有提供有利客观的证据说明steel得到冠军的其他原因及Mr.Schade的能力到底有多强，Saluda地区的教学状况什么样，是否需要音乐教育，也没有告诉我们一个学校的成功与普通音乐教育设计有多大关联。

1）        the arguer fails to convince us that the fact that over the past five years, the school band from Steel City high has won three regional band competions is due to the the right direction of Mr. Charles Schade.first, maybe it’s due to the other teacher’s direction that leads to good performances of Steel City High in the regional band compititons. Secondly, maybe some students happened to have band genes made this all happen. Thirdly, maybe there were not so many competitors in the regional band comprtions, and it was not hard to win in this competion.
2）        The fact that the quality of the music rehearsal facilities and music instruments at Steel City high,has improved markedly in the past five years seems insufficient to prove his performance. First, it is likely that the headmaster of this high school were quite concerned about the development of music and budget a large sum of money to equip high quality music rehearsal facilities and music instruments. Secondly, it could be the pressure from the parents of the students that leads to the improvement on the misic instruments and music rehearsal facilities.
3）        Even if Mr. Charles Schade made impressive contribution to the development of music in the Steel City High, it’s still insufficient to convince us that the Salusa  school board should hire him o plan and direct the general music education programs for the entire Saluda school system. Whether Mr. Charles Schade is qualified or not is still open to doubt. Then, is there any other more suitable persons?
