"Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."

For students, there are numerous new things flourishing their world, should students need to skeptic whatever they studied or accepted now and whatever they will be taught in future? Two options in front of students, accepting knowledge a sponge or question it in a critic way. It is hard to distinguish which way is better, the two ways can make complementarily to the other, and balance two will benefit students more than just choose one side.


First, as people know, students should learn certain amount of knowledge before considering these opinions. It is the sponge-like thinking way which can supply students enough basic knowledge, as providing foundation for skyscraper. Therefore, the skeptical thinking way cannot disturb learning process, because accepting some information is prerequisite for student to question some statements. In both skeptical thinking way and accepting thinking way, to receive and accept some fact is first step. If people don’t believe anything, they will reach a paranoia state. Thus, students need to learn general sense from book, then to consider its trueness.





Second, While skeptical thinking is a test to assist student generating discretion. Though there are dozens of possible approaches, the progress can be boiled down to concrete steps. Comment sense indicates that students will gain a conclusion contains numbers of information or even wrong factors. So it is meaningful for students to practice the ability- discretion, through asking themselves two questions: I do not really know and I am not sure. For example, William Harvey, English physician, who discovered the circulation of the blood and the role of the heart in propelling it, thus refuting the theories of Galen and laying the foundation for modern physiology. Moreover, Galileo, who is a student of Aristotle, used a experiment to point out his teacher’s theory, the heaver one will reach the grand when two object falling down from the same height, to be a fallacy one. The scientific method, to some extent, can be said to be entirely motivated by doubt. As a result, to skeptical general sense, to question school book is first step for student to learn discriminative power.



Third, skeptical and accept think method need to be balanced by students. For skeptical often motivate an elaborate adversarial process to sort through all the evidence to come to a decision. As Evolution Theory written by Darwin, this theory appears to be logicality and persuasion. The evolution theory has been accepted by the whole world. But now, after thousands times of researching and surveying, biologists and physical scientists, critic this classical theory. They pointed out that Evolution Theory is only a theory includes inexplicable errors, and cannot explain the complexity of biology and life. However, on the other hand, people who accept some knowledge without doubt will reach right conclusion much frankly and directly than people who skeptical. Especially, in our times, time is money. People need to deal thousands of staffs in one hour, if people skeptical anything and not resolute business in time, company will suffer disastrous lost. And if student learn to skeptical in spear time and handling problem decidedly will reach a better results. Therefore, to correctly using skeptical and accept thinking is a skill need student to practice.


In conclusion, the two consider way is twins, they cannot be separate from each other. Accept-thinking supply student with general knowledge, skeptical-thinking lead them develop discriminative power. And only student who can balance both sides will…

首先膜拜之~给我45分钟肯定写不出那么长而且用词高级并且蛮有逻辑的文章的。。。
基本上我觉得ice已经把很多语法上的小问题都指出了,我想说一点自己对这个题目的理解。
作为没有正式开始训练AW的菜鸟,我对AW的理解停留在官方的GUIDE之上。所以说得不对的地方希望多多包涵啊~
我觉得AW的精髓应该还是critical thinking,GRE的要求其实是学生必须具有更有逻辑性和更全面的思维模式。
因为作者采用了first,second,third的基本模式,而且照每段的中心句来看作者的思路大致是:海绵式思维可以帮助学生吸收知识,质疑式思维使学生严谨,两种模式不可分割。这样的话,那是不是可以再逻辑上更深入一点呢?
不知道是不是我受高考作文毒害比较深,我觉得如果按照:海绵式思维是质疑式思维的基础,质疑式思维是海绵式思维的提高,两者相辅相成。这样更符合AW的要求?因为这样的写作手法更有critical thinking的感觉,把二者有机结合,并且每段都提到这两者的关系,相对有点题的含义。
此外,因为我在First那段里没看到首句是中心句,后面几段都是首句直接点题的,所以是不是把那段的论点也直接提出会更有逻辑性?
以上是我对xihaiweiwei3这篇文章的一些读后感,说得不好的地方,希望各位指正啊~
