In China, the oldest record of the sport of football can be traced back to the Tang dynasty, which is over 1,000 years from now. I believe, even before that time period, sports had already been in people’s lives. By doing sports, people strong their bodies and what is more important, people learn lessons about their lives.
The spirit of sports is the main lesson that people learn from sports. Some people may think that the spirit of sports is competition. In my opinion, that is only the formality of some of the sports. Take the sport of swim for instance, the players swim as fast as they can and see who is the fastest, which seems to be a kind of competition. However, under the formality of competition, we can also see a spirit of fighting with the nature or stay in peace with the nature. What is more, through the victory and failure of the competition, people may gradually learn the truth of life, which is certainly not depended on victory or failure of the competition. Like the sport of swim, every sport can teach people a lesion about life through its spirit.
Additionally, through the techniques of sports, people also learn lessons that can be used in life, study and career. If we look at the 2010 World Cup, we will find that in football games, the techniques of the players, their cooperation between each other, and the arrangement of the players’ positions are all important in the whole game. This is also the condition in running a business company. In order to run a successful business, the boss has to pick the eligible employees, make full use of their abilities respectively, and let them cooperate. Of course, these techniques are certainly not the only ones that people can learn from sports.
As a necessary part of people lives for such a long history, sports can certainly teach people lessons about life. However, we have to remember that, only by understanding the truth of sports, we can learn the precious true lessons.
