To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to apply for a change of status from an F-2 dependent to an F-1 student status.  I came to the US with my husband, Mr. XX, who is a doctoral student at XX University and a candidate for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.  I currently hold F-2 visa.  

I was recently admitted to XX University pursuing a Master of XXX　in XXXXXX.  I believe the knowledge and experience, which I would gain from this program, will help me to obtain a good job when I back to my home country.   I am offered the scholarship from School of XX, XX University.  Besides, I have personal savings; please see the attached bank statements that indicate I have enough funds for tuition and living expenses during this program.  

In order to start and complete my program in XX　University, I would like to apply for a F-1 status so that I may take advantage of the benefits available to F-1 students.   My scholarship will begin from September 2003, so please expedite my change of status request.

Dear Officer:
I am writing to apply for changing my H-4 status to F-1 status.
It's well known that the United States of America is famous for her advanced sciences and technologies, and I'm hoping to obtain more experience here in order to serve my home country better in the near future. Fortunately, XXXX university admits me as a full time Research Assistant at Department of XXX and I am going to pursuit my XXXDegree program beginning Fall 2003 term to work with Professor XXXwho is remarkable for his outstanding research in his field. I love XXX(the name of the major)because it takes an important place in people’s life. It XXXX(express why you pick up the major).I would like contribute all what I would learn from XXXback to benefit the world which we are living and I believe the XXXprogram at Department of XXX, XXXUniversity will help my dream come true.
It’s my pleasure to receive a Graduate Research Assistantship for my XXXprogram at XXXUniversity. That means I will be a graduate student employee of the University. But, my husband XXXXis a H-1 holder and I am H-4 accordingly.
