The speaker contends that learning the ideas, trends, and concepts is more significant than memorizing facts only. Up to a point, I tend to agree with such view especially comes to the function of the facts which is the basic aspect in the learning process. Nevertheless, students should make a balance between those methods for the reason that each aspect can not be taken place by the other.
Studying the ideas, trends and concepts is not only beneficial to using and understanding facts, but also essential to improve the individual ability. Granting that students know a good deal of information, such facts always lie in fragments. Yet by the process of learning the deeper concepts, these facts get weld together into the stuff and become more practical. The learning of the history can demonstrate this point. It is more important to analyzing the trends, putting all details together and applying the knowledge for(into) the modern life than memorizing the past facts. What’s more, since the world is becoming an increasingly eventful place, with each passing day it becomes a more onerous task for students to put different kinds of facts in the mind. While by mastering the ideas or the concepts, it is easier to facing and synthesizing other types of information. The genuine learner, as the American educator John Dewey knows, is not absorbing the stuffing of information and facts, but rather exploring the ideas and concepts which give the direction to the study process even in the future.
However, memorizing the facts is such a fundamental way under some circumstance that can not be omitted(omit是省略、略去的意思,和ignore、neglect有区别). For instance, by memorizing the physical formulas, students can solve some problems in the daily life(daily lives 不要the). The formula of the Law(不需要大写吧?) of universal gravitation helps students to evaluate the speed of the car(a car) when it comes to swerve. Also, knowing the basic facts of the geography, students would not loss(lose themselves。loss是损失损耗的意思) in the unfamiliar place. And when it comes to the field of culture, mastering some facts do good to the reservation of the ancient custom(ancient customs不要the) which gives the impression to the world(这个定语从句的意义是什么?). So in some fields, the achievement does not go that smooth(smoothly?), if it were not for the protection of the memorizing some basic facts.(这句话没明白……)
In the final analysis, the significance of both methods(哪两个method是否需要再提一下?) should be taken into consideration. In other words, students need to find a balance between them. In fact, students are being so stuffed with miscellaneous facts, with such indigestible mass of materials(indigestible形容的是material,with和前面的with重复了,建议改成and such a large mass of indigestible materials), that they do not have time to use their own mind for synthesizing and evaluating these materials. It is true that the information and the telecommunication technology bring out the new industry revolution which makes the facts(the指代不明) available(easy?) for people to access, but the convenience, on the other hand, lead to the ignorance of the facts which also(“也”何从说起?) plays a fundamental role in the world. By contrast, no matter how the world changes, it is the ability of analysis(是什么?) together with the storage of the facts that makes students forward(这是adv.吧?做verb的时候意思是“转发”,比如转发邮件、转发短信等) further.
In sum, as for the speaker’s broader assertion, I agree insofar(这个词用法好像不对,通常都是insofar as…) that students should learn more than memorizing the facts only. Analyzing the ideas, concepts and trends cannot be ignored at the beginning of the process(什么process?每一个带有the的名词都应该看一看是否指代明确了,是否可以省略一些附加的说明,不要让读者觉得莫名其妙). Nevertheless, in some situation, it has revealed the necessity of the memorizing the facts, existing for solving the elementary tackles. All in all, given the undeniable importance of the above mentioned aspects, students have considerable tasks to accomplish.

第二段写的很好。整篇文章行文比较流畅,结构清晰,逻辑也很连贯。但是对题目的切入点好像有点问题,据我的理解,题目的意思是说学习facts背后的ideas, trends, and concepts更有利于学习facts,而你的主题好像是在将facts和ideas, trends, and concepts进行比较孰轻孰重,这个我们还需要进一步讨论。
