THESTUDY OF HISTORY HAS VALUE ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT IT IS RELEVANT TO OUR DAILYLIVES.


Theissue asserts that the study of history is useful only when our daily lives areconsidered. While i agree with the statement that the study of history helps inour daily lives, i disagree with it on the point that it understates the valueof studying history.

First,i agree with the argument that studying history helps us in our daily lives. Take the healthy history of your family for example, you may be more likely to getcertain diseases because of heredity, so knowing your own history alerts tostudy away of certain danger


iagree on that studying history is important in our daily life, and i need to arguethat the studying of history matters far more than daily lives. It is importantin making big decision. For example, the decision make by a big company. Considerthe company is making a decision about whether to lend a big fund to another company. It should know the history of the other company, whether that company is reliable; can we get our money and interest back? if the other company has good reputation, if it has a good history of paying back, then we cantrust it.


Thestudy of history teaches us to cherish our comfortable live, to cherish all theadvantages the modern society brings to us. We read in history about the dayswhen there was no electricity, there was no airplanes, no cars. We cannotimagine live without those things, but we can see through history books whatlife could be without these. The compare between history and today would makeus value our lives more.

Thestudy of history helps us understand people of other nations. Understand whypeople in certain society behaviors in ways that are strange to you. Forexample, about 30 years ago, there was news in china that some women committedsuicide because they were raped. It was absolutely unimaginable to people inwestern countries. Why? It was not their faults, and it should not amount todeath. That is culture difference caused by history. The study of history helpsyou understand why. China has a history of feudalist for about more than 2000years. Women were supposed to be belonging to only one man. Girls being rapedwere considered to be dirty by the society and also by herself as a member ofthe society. if you don’t understand the history you cannot figure out why. Evenif you know the history, it may be still shaking to you because the history ofAmerican teaches its people about freedom, about equality; it encourages peopleto strive for what they want. The study of American history helps youunderstand why so many people want to come to this country. They want to fullfill their dream, they desire for freedom, so they come.

Tosum up, the study of history matter much more than only value to daily lives,history helps in making big decisions, in understanding people with differentbackgrounds, and its value contains but not confined to these fields.
