"The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."
There are many ways that the study of history influence our reality. Maybe we can simply classified the positive side of the impact into the term which we called it “Value”. But actually we
cannot do this, because there are so many factors and problems should be considered. The study of history itself is as mysterious as history.
To begin with, the recognization of the history itself is siginificant for human being. People always say that we can learn from history because the history repeated itself very often. However, without the works of hostorians, we cannot generally know what our history is and what our past is. After all, we have to know what one thing is at first, then we could evaluate its meaning. As for the historian writtngs, we have to rely them to realize what happen before, then we have the possiblities to discuss the meaning of some certain event in further, say, we can pick up those events which are very siginificant or relevant to our reality. Therefore, the exsitence of the historical recording itself is obviously more important than its meaning for our reality. Without the former, the latter could not even come up.
Moreover, the issue implies that our darly live is so simple that we could evalute that we could choose to support the certain researches based on the need of reality. The world which we living in, as well as our history, is more intracate than someone imagined. Actually we cannot easily know which part of the study is relevant to our reality, which part is not.. It may be too late to checking the piles of the history accounts till the problem crashing our face, even if we could understand our need by now, we still could not still to predict how could us satiesfy our future demand. After all, our history is driven by a series of unpredicted forces as many philisophers.
Also, what kind of benefit could be provided itself is one of the problems which have been questioned and discussed by many generations of historians. At least, to some extant, we should rely on the study of history to answer this query. We cannot imagine the historical methodology can survive out of the pre-existence of history research.
Therefore, we cannot evalute and direct the development simlply based on the need of reality. On the contrary, the being of history itself is more important whether in the past or present,
