The speaker gives us an arbitrary decision that only if the study of history is relevant to our daily lives, it has value. The value of the study of history should not related to whether it is relevant to daily lives, because it is a wholesome thing that can be function for who study it all lifelong time.

At the beginning, we should admit that the study of history is an analysis on what had happened, what caused the happening, what were the stimulation, and the result of the events. The necessity of history-study reflects in the experiences we got from them and put it in use.

Clearly, the value of study of history shows off when it is related with our daily lives. It could be use for reference in order to let us solve the analogous problems correctly and efficiently. And people could get the requirement of the others. For instance, London's upper class people in 17 century lived a luxurious life, and when they felt boring the drink the afternoon tea. And by now, have some cookies and drink a cup of tea has become a popular way to relax. When China had just liberated, the experiences and lessons Chinese people had ever learned told them, the development of technology is the most important thing at that time, for the seclusion of the Republic of China has lead the country to weakness.  We could see that after summing up the experience and taking use of it, China is now prosperous. This case shows that the study of history indeed helpful to daily lives.

What about the pieces of history which are not relevant to our daily lives? The answer is that any study of history has its value. When look back the history, we could know the culture, the religion, the background of that time, so that we could have a better understanding of that period of time and its social context.
We could learn more about the 16th century by study the history of Renaissance, the 18th century by study the history of Industrial Revolution, and the 19th century by study the history of Technological Revolution.
A period of history may represent for a certain culture, or the development of society.

Moreover, the study of history could raise our inner quality, help us to construct a good philosophy for ourselves, and built a refinement in accomplishment. When then Iraq War happened, we saw the horror and the pain from the local residents. Thought the War is declare for the peace of local resident and wage by the U.S. Army, those expressions on the Iraqis children still made me think about the importance and harmony. After that, it taught me to cherish anything I owned, and live is weak, we should appreciate it. Everything I learned from history made my quiet and grateful.

To sum up, the study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives but also anywhere of our life. Take the history as a mirror could lead us a better future.
