Along with development of history, human being often look back on what had happened in past in order to seek anything had value to us in present time. When it comes to whether study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives, there are always various ideas. Dose historical events which not relevant to present time has any value? Admittedly, ages are different and historical events may not happen again. However, we still can learn much from the inner of those historical events.
Granted that, differ from ages of past and present, many things involved in daily life has greatly changed, such as social value and things human contact with. The Tulip Bubble, happened in Sixteen Century, was caused by people's fever on its beauty, mysterious and dignity. The speculations of tulip had soon elevated its price as a house, and the first economic bubble came to its birth. When the Tulip Bubble exploded, economy of Holland had encountered a recession for decades. While people of nowadays has contacted more things and they would not be frantic about tulips. Also people of nowadays has become more rational and they place more emphasis on creating fortune by real economy instead of virtual economy. So it seems that some events happened in past may not happen again in nowadays and them may not be relevant to our daily life.
Unfortunately, due to limitations of human nature, some of human natures are stubborn. Stubborn human nature, such as greedy and indolence, has driven people to conflict errors in the past again. Blooming of housing market has attracting people's investments, it is greedy that drives people who want to make a fortune through speculations of housing, and subprime loans. Eventually most serious economic crisis in history has been made. Although some historical events seemed to be not relevant at first glance, however, human nature, the essentials which forced events to their occurrence has always been relevant to our daily life.
As we take a further inspection into the study of history, we find that it is indeed a subject of exploring human nature. Every single historical event has a stamp of human nature, and through these stamps we can find out if human nature had led to whether a good result or a harmful one. It is the fact that things involved in our daily life varies from time to time, but the study of history has always teaching us how people effecting people themselves by cases happened before, even if these events, at first glance, are not relevant to our daily life.
In sum, even though, some historical events are considered merely connected to our daily life, yet, they still teach us much about human nature. Literally, we can more or less benefit from the studying of historical events only if we keep humble in front of history and take a self-scrutiny on effects of ourselves to those events. |
