题目:ISSUE56 - "Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."

Today's people have the freedom of speaking about anything, the government included. What the government is doing are discussed and judged as a part of daily life, so that any choices and decisions should be careful and discreet. When meet the question whether the immediate problems of today should be paid more attention to rather than the anticipated problems of the future. The answer should be today's.
First of all, we should make it sure what the current government would do and should do. The government is a group of people who make decisions and plans to build the city, the state, and even the country. An effective government would care about anything happened, anything happening, and anything would happen. It is their responsibility to try their best to offer their people a happy and safe life. The nowadays' China Government had faced many problems and events, such as the earthquake in WenChuan, the flood in south of China. When these problems came, the government takes over as soon as they are reported. The goods and materials of relief were sent to the scenes, the doctors and soldiers are ordered to support as quickly as possible. The actions are rapid and with no doubt and that could be a good example for the government to solve the immediate problems and to represent the power and effective actions a government should have.
As the old saying goes, " Yesterday is a history. Future is a mystery. Today is a gift, that why we call it present." Today is a gift for both the government and its people; It is the moment the governments show their caring, tolerance, and responsibility to their people; and it also the moment the people in favor of the caring, tolerance, and responsibility from the government. Because the future is a mystery that we cannot predict, we should cherish today's life and try to make a better life by mean of focus on today's problems. Thus, only if the government holds today's present and focus on it, today would be a gift to the government.
Meanwhile, because that the immediate problems are urgent and they would have influence of people’s current life, it should be focused more and solved firstly. Only if the immediate problems are solved, people would have the willing and desire to overlook the future. Imagine a refugee who is still worrying about bread and milk talking about what kind of cars he would buy in twenty years. Is that realistic? Is that the problem he would and he should focus on? Absolutely won’t. But, when he has the shelter and a job that he could earn for living, he would think about the car or the education problems. So as to the government, when the immediate problems are solved then goes to the anticipated problems.
Certainly, it is not to say that the anticipated problems is not important, just the reverse, the anticipated problems are as important as the immediate ones. It is the problems relate to the future us. But, what the most important problems are? I'd still say the immediate ones.
To sum up, an effective government is the government that spears no efforts on making its people a good life and built a better life for the future. That is to say, the most important and magnitude thing the government should focus is the immediate problems. Unless the immediate problems are all in the progress to solve, the people would not be satisfied of the government, not mention the future anticipated ones. Meanwhile, if the government has enough time and manpower to consider the anticipated problems, and that will be the best. |
