第一,.在一定程度上,文中的这种观点是有他的道理的. 这主要有两种情况.一种是针对一定的人群,这部分人群倾向于通过各种方式来展现他们的政治倾向.另一种是针对一定的时间阶段,在大的社会变革过程中,通常需要人们来通过各种方式来更激进的宣传他们的主张,.大家可以举民权运动,和`废奴运动的例子.

第二,同时\文章的错误在于, 1,他认定短时间接触, 而这对于一些比较倾向保守和闭口不谈政治的人是不现实的.二,对于外在反映内在政治倾向也是不准确的参照指数.因为人们的外在受很多因素影响而且不断变化.

We always claim that we can identify a person’s character or political inclination within a very short time of meeting him by sensitively observing his clothes, their friends, the way they talk or what they eat. All of the above, as I mentioned, would be reliable indicators in revealing a person but if we plumb into this argument further, we should find it problematic since the outside appearance and life style do disguise or mislead our judgment about people.

People’s life style or the people they associate with do tell us something about his proclivity in his political preference. For example, we could expect the participants in the civil rights movements to articulate their strong conviction in abolishing any form of discrimination against black people. In their daily life, this political belief may be reflected by refusing to communicate with those people who discriminate against black people, wearing T-shirt with slogans demonstrating their political view, or refusing to buy goods in white people’s stores who apparently show their unwillingness to grant equal rights and respect to black people. The above examples are only a few that illustrate how people intend to show their political inclination in their daily life. This is especially well uttered during the time of presidential election when supporters of different candidates express strong adherence by using as showy and obvious means as possible. Another case is for the democratic and republican party in which we can see millions of supporters stand firmly to applaud over the victory of their favorite party and rebuke the other party as weak and disabled.  

On the other hand, it seems too unscrupulous to claim that it is possible to identify a person’s political point of view with a short time of meeting him or her and that their dresses, their friends reflect their political beliefs. I am against this hasty generalization in two ways. For one thing, I wonder whether it is possible to identify people’ politics within a short time since not all the people find it unnecessary to show their political beliefs to strangers or some people are particular conservative in not offending other people’s political inclination, all of which make it hard to identify their political belief at the first glance impossible. For another thing, some people consider political belief a personal matter which they realize not necessary by demonstrating it all the time and in every respects of their life. What is more, peoples’ modes of talking or life style are frequently under adjustment due to their change of social status, or the relationship between he and the listeners he is addressing to, or simply influences exerted by a social trend or increases in the political editorial they read. Since the outside appearance and life style are only valid indicators under certain circumstances to certain group of people, we should cautiously use it as truthful evidence in judging people’s politics.

Realizing this conflicting evidence, it reveals to us one importance maxim we should bear in mind- that is to judge a person’s political belief is an onerous tack, which requires all attention in the people’s outside appearance as well as the internal traits in the long run. Under most conditions, the effort in “telling at first glance” is a unrealistic fiction since human personality is so much diversified and unpredictable.

the topic also can be extended to certain aspects, such as outfit vs. belief, appearance vs. nature, and internal beauty, etc.

and kinda  my view toward this topic: for those famous political figures, in most cases, this rule can be  fully applied, which is definitely not a universal law for the common people.

再补充一点：这个命题的一个失误在于：认为细节都可以透露关键性的东西。

事实上，很多细节是后天习得的，是可以掩饰可以伪装的。发达国家有很多教授行为举止的礼仪课程，或者教人如何发音说话，将声音的魅力发挥到最大的课程（价格十分不菲），这些无疑只是教人如何用细节来改善和伪装原本面貌的手段之一。

对了，这样的话，另外一个方面也可以出来，一些某个人的政治观点是受环境所限制的。
比如所处在什么样的地位，角度都限制了自己的想法看法
