The speaker alleges that the destiny and future of society relies on high socialized degree of modern children, but, unfortunately, we have not yet found out the method to raise children to create a better society. I admit that socialization is essential in constructing one person’s personality and be good for processing the society. Nevertheless, not only the socialization of children but also some other factors, the faith and perseverance, could determine the prospect of the society. Moreover, a plethora of outstanding achievements have been neglected by the speakers.

First consider the speaker’s claim that the destiny of society depends on how children are socialized. I grant that cultivating the socialization of children is very important and necessary, which contribute in a large extent to shape their characters and values. Children have sufficient opportunities to play with other peers during their childhood, a vital period of learning. And, they obtain the ability of leadership, cooperation and become honest during the process of these games. Nevertheless, socialization is a double-edged sword for children, unless the adults guide the children to a right way and prevent them from getting in touch with some byproducts of socialization, malicious competition, for instance.

In the mean time, we couldn’t overlook other factors that also play considerable roles in the future of society. In my observation, Leaders, especially excellent leaders, have changed the trend of a society. Paragons such as Gandhi and Roosevelt, respectively, come immediately to my mind. As we know, Mahatma Gandhi was the father of independence and saved India and Indians. However, his accomplishment results from his faith of freedom, not affected by the socialization of rank and fashion of Indian. As for Roosevelt, he was weak and dissocial, but this fail to stop him becoming one of the most venerable president in the history of America owing to his perseverance.

Next consider the speaker’s assertion that we have not yet learned how to raise children to create a better society. How could I account for numerous remarkable successes in our modern society if we accept the speaker’s allegation? The mankind rises from a day that when be born, keeps developing, alone with war and disease. Today, the society shows greater tolerance of different viewpoints as well as protects individual rights particularly women and the black’s rights. What is more, in the sciences, personal computers and Internet have transformed the world into a global village. The advent of modern industry has helped free up our time by performing repetitive tasks. In all, our modern society is prosperous, at least to some extent.

In sum, we could hardly ignore the importance of socialization to children. However, the dominant factor for a better society might not be the socialized degree of modern children but emotional quality such as faith and perseverance.
