TOPIC: ARGUMENT52 - The following appeared in a memo to the human resources manager at Baobob Inc., a large architectural firm.
"Several well-known, retired architects were interviewed in Architecture Today about changes in the field. Only one had earned a college degree in architecture. All others had come into the field at an early age by serving apprenticeships that required them to work under the direct supervision of an experienced architect. Several of the colleges that we recruit from report that many promising architecture students leave school early in their undergraduate career. Therefore, because finding talented architecture graduates is becoming more difficult, Baobob Inc. should start an aggressive apprenticeship program and hire students who express an interest in architecture directly out of high school rather than wait for them to get out of college."

in this argument , the arguer claim that institusions should activate an aggressive apprentceship program and hire students who express an interest in architecture directly out of high school rather than wait for them to get out of college. to illustrate is assertion, the arguer stated that several well-known retired architects used to annouce that they were not highly-educated and only one of them had a college degree in architecture. otherwise, the argure also point out that many students major in architecture in college also leave school early and step to their career. however, there is some serious flaws in his assumptions which indicate the argument therfore is unconvincible in a detailed sight.
first of all, we must consider that the time has changed. the ages of those "several well_known architects" has undoubltfully changed a lot since they are all retired now. in that time people don't concern the degree very much in the field of architecture, because there were few really qulified colleges could provide the education in this field and styles at that time needed mostly practice instead of theroies. However, circumstances preventing. Architecture today has been well developed and quite different from the architecture half century ago since it was widely concerned by modern building meterials and construction theories. and almost all of these modern technologies, although could be learned in practice, is obviously more efficiently taught in colleges. thus, arcitectural college is necessary before architects get to work.
secondly, the arguer made an rough assumption after giving the phenomenon that architects say that most of them went to work very early to gain experience. He said his company should hire the high school students who show tallent directly after their graduation from high schools. high school graduates need practice doesn't mean they are qulified. admittedly, tallented students like Bill Gates, could quit his education and start his own business, but that doesn't mean that he was enough of education. in fact every tallented students need more stable knowledge stucture and more background knowledge reserve, which college can provide them. futhermore, practice without strong foundation of knowledge can't teach students well. so what they need the most importantly is education and they can gain efficient and qulified one in colleges instead of companies. hiring them without providing them qulified education may kill their tallent in long term, and also may lead a destructive ifluence to the company.
finally, i must stress that staff employing is such an important work that anyone shouldn't just make a directive decision only based on a few social statments or specialized examples. in order to fully inllustrate his statments, the arguer must provide more investigations.
