People would be happier if they had fewer possessions? Agree or not?
There is no absolute definition of happiness. In my view, happiness is a kind of mental satisfactory depending on individuals. It is obvious that more money could buy more things which could help people feel satisfied. Therefore, I totally believe more possession could bring people more happiness, and there are main two reasons to support my viewpoint.
To begin with, as I mentioned above, more possession could afford for more desiring things which could bring happiness to people. For example, every pair of couple would like to have a sweet honey moon. But if the bride wants to travel to abroad, there is no enough money to meet her requirements; the bride would hardly feel happy. Contrarily, if the groom have a good budget on their honeymoon travel, the bride would feel happier and get great satisfactory. Furthermore, sometimes the possession itself could bring you happiness in the process of appreciating it. Such as, an amateur have an antique, he would enjoy himself in appreciating this artwork. Especially for a fanatical person, the more possessions, like the antique, he has, the more happiness he could get.
In addition, with a great amount of possessions, you would be more likely to doing some charity, which brings an increasing number of people happiness. When you acquire quite a large deal of property, you will not only consider your own enjoyment, but also supply happiness to others. Meanwhile, you will feel happier when you help other with your possessions. Like the CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates, he has built a large number of capital funds which could offer aid for those who needs money. He has innumerable possessions; on the one hand, he could feel happy with the property he has got, because he could use the money to satisfy all his orders. On the other hands, he could feel happier by building increasing number of capital funds every year to assist more people that were trapped in trouble. The reason why he persists doing charity tirelessly is he could feel much happier in doing that.
In brief, the people who are exposed to more possession could get the emotional satisfactory through spending money on what they desire, as well as accomplishing other people’s wish. I firmly convince that people would get more happiness with more property. |
