4.13独立:
If child want to do well in school, parents should limit the hours of watching TV programs or movies.
Nowadays, people have more channels to get knowledge and resources than that in past. With increasingly development of electrical product, television plays an indispensable role in people’s daily life. But a controversial issue arouses that whether parents should limited children’s time on watching TV, as well whether watching television would influence school performance. Personally, I do not agree with parents who restrict their children in watching TV for three main reasons.
To begin with, watching TV programs could get diversified knowledge by visual images in comparison with that from class. Different with knowledge what is written in text book, TV program could exhibit a more powerful and fantasy world to children, which is more attracting to them. By the improvement of program quality, parents are no need to worry that children would be mislead by program’s content. In contrary, children could learn more knowledge in an interesting way rather than in school. Some children who watch TV and learn extra-curriculum content are usually regarded as talent and smartness, therefore they could do better in their lessons to keep honor. In this case, watching TV could contribute to better performance in school, which could not be restricted by parents.
Furthermore, those who are limited in watching TV are common in some rebellious characters which could be expressed in school performance. For example, children are restricted rights to watch TV as parents believe watching TV program would affect their behavior in study, they may be angry with their parents. Thus, their anger would be reflected in their lazy conduct in study. Even when they get unsatisfied performance in school, they refute their parents that because they did not get enough amusement and pleasure out of curriculum. We could find that restriction in watching TV may lead negative effect on children’s study.
Last but not least, watching TV could help adolescents relax and release pressure, therefore, after that they could get more energy and motivation in study. Moderate relaxation and rest are necessary to those students, especially in current high pressure mode of education. They do more likely require joy and amusement to release them from heavy study mission. Long-time study could result decline of concentration, watching TV program could efficient relax their brain and activate brain again.
All in all, I firmly claim that parents should not restrict children’s time on watching TV program for these above reasons. Because watching TV would not influence school performance, oppositely, sometimes enhance their enthusiasm to study. |
