RA positions in machine learning and statistic genetics in Bioinformatics lab at HKU

RA positions are immediately available in Dr. JJ Wang’s lab at Department of Biochemistry, the University of Hong Kong. (http://www.hku.hk/biochem/research/jjwang/, or http://hub.hku.hk/rp/rp00280/ ). The positions are initially for one year, and renewable, depending on candidate’ performance. Position 1: The candidate should have strong programming skills(c/c++/java or matlab), with background (MS or PhD) in data mining, machine learning, or mathematic/physical modeling. Biological knowledge is preferred but not required. Candidates with experiences in Hidden Markov model, Bayesian networks, graph theory, neural network/SVM are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position 2: The candidate should have strong knowledge in statistical/medical genetics, with background in bioinformatics/statistics. The candidate should know genotyping, association studies (design and analysis) and cancer genomics, and with strong English writing skills. Candidates with experiences in next-generation sequencing platforms/analysis pipelines are preferred.
