Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Since most people can solve their problems by themselves or with the help from their families, the help from government is often not necessary. Use specific reasons to support your answer.
There is an old saying, problems are just a kind of indispensable experiences which make a man grow up. Since we were kids, we start facing different types of problem, as small as a financial issue in a family, as large as the national defense problem in the queasy society. Generally speaking, government to my mind plays an vital role in solving people's problems and making people live a better lives, although in several trifling aspects, family aid or self solving are enough to figure them out. There are many instances supporting my view.
To begin with, environmental protection is a typical problem that the government is able to take effectively measures to solve. The environmental projects, such as large-scale afforestation and water treatment systems, will call for a lot of money and manpower by government. For instance, Auto emissions are Beijing's biggest cause of polluted air, and also create significant amounts of nitrates and other particles. City officials have used Olympic projects as a means to institute China's highest emissions standards and bring brave new technology. Happily, exhaust emissions were reduced by 63 percent during the Olympic period. This classic example tells us solving environmental problems might be the difficult task for a family or a single person.
Furthermore, obviously, without timely and effective rescue from government, only expecting the help from persons can do little when facing the disaster. Natural disaster is to some extent unpredictable and destructive. In face of the earthquake like Wenchuan Earthquake in the summer of 2008, which killed nearly 70000 people, it was the Chinese government that organized rescue teams to participate in the disaster-relief operations. In face of the hurricane like Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which claimed at least 1833 lives, it was the federal government that had strong power to cope with the disaster. The power of small crowd cannot reach.
From another point of view, when her people are in trouble, the government aid should be given. In a democracy, the government should be responsible for its people because it is chosen by the people. As taxpayers, we pay the government to build a better society, and when people need help, government have a duty to solve problems people face.
However, there is no denying that in some minor cases, personal power and family power mean the ability to overcome the difficulties. When one family was unpleasant with its neighbor because of the life minor matter, for example, residential committee is able to address this kind of problem. In addition, have you ever met someone who was out of love and seek legal aid? Obviously, it must be overstating his case. Friend and parents will be the ones to listen to him and give comfort. As a result, without doubt, self solving or family aid can settle the matter within grasp.
From what has been discussed above, we can safely draw a conclusion that the help from government cannot be ignored. As taxpayers, we should use the political power in an adequate and reasonable way to make our lives better and the society more harmonious.
