还记得电影《蒸发密令》中漂亮的女主角吗？对，她就是多才多艺的Vanessa Williams。1984年， 二十岁的Vanessa凭藉着青春美貌，荣登选美会的冠军宝座，成为第一位黑人当选美国小姐，锋头正健，后由于被揭发曾替成人杂志拍裸照而取消桂冠，并受到媒介的指责，舆论压力。Vanessa 并没有因此一蹶不振，她凭着漂亮的面孔，绝妙的身材，和一副极具实力的好歌喉开始向乐坛进军。1988年，Vanessa 推出第一张个人专辑《The Right Stuff》,在美国取得不俗成绩。专辑中有四首单曲闯入Billboard Top 10，Vanessa还因此获得葛莱美最佳新人奖提名。1992年，Vanessa 又推出第二张个人专辑《The Comfort Zone》，这张专辑集合了Amy Grant、Keith Thomas 等资深音乐人的才智，具有很高的水准。其中《Running Back To You》率先冲进Billboard Top 10，接着一首《Save The Best For Last》更是包括Billboard，美国成人音乐榜Soul Music榜的三料冠军，成绩相当骄人，这是一首抒情、优美的歌曲，听来令人倍感飘逸。
