54"History teaches us only one thing: knowing about the past cannot help people to make important decisions today."
People's present culture is derived from the history, history accumulates nearly all the former knowledge and experiences of all passed ages. These cherish possessions benefit human beings a lot especially when making important decisions today no matter the sources people learn was successful or fail in earlier times.
Though successful precedents make no promise the wise decision at present even they are followed since many factors have turned different from historic ones. Teaching and studying the experiences still shows great value by analyzing those preterit events to make out reasons why they were successful and how they were carried out in the specific right way. By doing this kind of work, people can take the situation they learned in account when facing similar events and increase the possibility what they make is advisable.
Moreover, not only learning successful in past gives people valuable experiences, evaluating the failures in the history also helps them even more greatly through the lessons those used to brought serious harm to human beings living in that times. By knowing how those failures were made out, people would be much more cautious to choose the direction they forge ahead in the future to avoid the same bad result as before. And thus, though a little setback still exists now, people are always more likely improving themselves by keeping meditating and correcting their ancestor's faults. For instance, for the tremendous disasters impacted to whole of the world from the World War II, all countries now are paying much attention on the world-wide arms race and political attitudes of some nations those used to cause wars like Germany and Japan. A world famous newspaper called MIRROR in Germany often points out the present bad trends appeared like discriminations and xenophobia in society and reminds people not to make the same mistake as their earlier ones did. By the case, historic failures do tell present how to avoid mistakes, more or less.
While I must concede that long time can make so many changes that lead to the condition just copying earlier actions do not necessarily work out the same fruits, studying history serves well to help making decisions as a mirror. By checking themselves in the mirror, people could draw out some rules through researches and measure their own deeds whether those are in a sage way. Many great thinkers' theories of philosophy those lead fellows to brilliance were made out in the very way of retrospect and analysis of history.
In conclusion, through history learning, it shows not what a right decision is but what a right one seems like and what the factors may lead to success or failure. Francis Bacon, British philosopher said, "History makes man wise". I think it means the same attitude as mine
1, it's a good essay within 45 minutes.
2, the rate of examples to reasoning seems slim. Because of that, the whole essay is unconving.
3, the quatation of Francis Bacon enlights the whole essay in the end.
