Do you agree or disagree with the following statements? There is never a reason for people to be rude (impolite) to another person. Usespecific reasons to support your answer.

Some people think that people should be polite to others at all times, even if others speak foul language to them. While others believe that they should attack others as a response. In my opinion, people could be rude to others if they have been hurt.

First of all, persons could relieve their pressure when they do not show respect to other people such as your competitors. Since persons always work under high pressure today, they should find a method to relax themselves. If persons were friendly to others all the times, their pressure would be accumulated. Perhaps one day persons would create an opinion to destroy the world or other persons' families absent controlling of themselves, like a bomb. Though some persons would argue that people could relieve stress by other ways, they overlooked the human being's trait, that is, aggressive, which means that persons cannot control themselves at any time, especially when they are furious. Thus, being rude to other person is a possible way to relieve themselves instead of hurting other’s lives.

Besides, friendships would probably be strengthened when people swear or attack others. Looking back the human history, men always spoke foul language to others, and fought against their competitors for food, women or status. However, after competition, they would probably be good friend since they have seen similar things between them during the competition. For example, recently, Liu Xiang was dragged by Robert in a competition, which caused him just finishing second. However, after competition, Robert apologized to Liu Xiang and they became good friends. Thereby, without considering contexts, it is impossible to say that being rude to another is unreasonable.

Moreover, people should hold their living places if they have been incurred. For example, we should not keep silence and tolerate others when someone said, ‘hey, guy, you’re so stupid’, with disdain. It is obvious that we should swear them or even fight with them instead to sustain our self-respect. We need to give ourselves opportunities to be human being, but not as logical machines without emotions. Though others think that it would hurt the relationships, damage the cooperation or decrease our income, persons could earn more benefit indirectly, such as happiness, respect or relaxation.

Above all, being impolite to others is not a bad thing since it could sometimes bring us benefit unconsciously. With chances to be human, we should not enclose ourselves with the principle that people should be polite to anyone at all conditions, no wonder whether others hurt you or not.

The professor challenges the view that salvage logging is beneficial to forest and economy. The professor provides several reasons to explain her opinion.

First of all, although the tree take years to decompose and it limits the spaces for other survival trees, it does not mean that removing trees could provide more benefit. The soil could be more suitable for trees to grow up when the dead one decompose. If all dead trees are cleaned up and removed, soil could not gain nutrition from the decomposition of trees, which would cause new trees could not absorb enough nutrition to live, so that the number of trees in forest would reduce.

Second, it is correct that the population of insects increases with decaying wood, but it does not prove that it would probably damage live there. Not all insects are harmful that some of them are long term contributors to forests and decaying trees help birds live. It is obvious that salvage logging do more harm than good in long time aspect.

Finally, though salvage logging could borrow some economic benefits, the companies should pay more money to recover the forest than they earned, since they should use helicopter or other machines to maintain forests. Besides, more people could gain job opportunities, but the jobs are temporary which means that it is not stable. The company would pay much money for training which would probably decrease the income. In the long term, the income of the society would be less than pay.

Above all, salvage logging would damage the circle of biology which would not gain benefits for companies and forests.

9月17日 20100320NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statements? Since most people can solve their problems by themselves or with the help from their families, the help from government is often not necessary. Use specific reasons to support your answer.

Some people argued that they could take care of themselves without the help from government. However, in my opinion, it is truth that people could solve problems by themselves or their friends, but it is unreasonable to claim that the help from government is unnecessary since people cannot live comfortably without assistance from government and we often accept help from it unconsciously.

First of all, government protects our lives and living styles by using their power. For example, if a factory drained polluted water into the river directly, the government would punish them by forcing it to close up. Besides, absent the protection of government, our lives and living space might be threatened by others. It is possible that some robbers break into our houses, take away all our privates and even kill us. People can do everything they want without control and they would follow their steps by their own desiring, just like animals. If these things happened, our living styles would be damaged and there would be no social rules and standards to regulate persons.

Besides, government provides social insurance to maintain the poor families. Today, it is estimated that nearly thirty percent of people in India still eat food which are directly from nature. Under this condition, persons from poor families cannot get education without finance from government since their families could not support them. Moreover, if we were above sixty years old and had no energy and intelligence to earn money by ourselves, we could not live long absent the help from government, especially the person whose close friends and families are not willing to assist. Today, the amount of money to spend in maintaining our health condition is so large that even a person who had nearly one million yuan might be poor if he had been infected by terrible virus. Thus, social insurance is significant for us to live comfortably.

Moreover, government supplies finance to establish fundamental which can improve our lives directly. In China, a large amount of fundamental establishments are donated by government instead of by cooperation or private in foreign countries. And it is truth that some fundamental programs provide us a convenience lives, such as the subway system and that we enjoy the services of government indirectly.

Above all, as the purpose of government is to maintain the peaceful condition in states, the government would do their best to develop economy and help people who can overthrow it.

In the lecture, the professor argues that the three measures cannot be successful to control the population of the cane toad in Australia and that might cause environmental damage.

First of all, building a national fence would not help to cease the spread of the cane toad. The young cane toads and their eggs are spread through the rivers and streams which would flow from the one side of fence to another side. So the young cane toads and their eggs could establish their population at the other side of the fence.

Besides, it is truth that it is easily to capture and destroy the cane toads. However, untrained volunteers might destroy Australia native frogs which are endangered instead, because it is difficult to distinguish Australia native frogs to the cane toads, especially the young one and eggs.

Moreover, though developing a disease-causing virus can stop the spread of the cane toads in Australia, the central South America would be affected. Some amphibians which would reach to the central South America could borrow the virus to the cane toads in the central South America. Since the cane toads are native species in the central South America as a part of ecosystem, it would become a disaster that the decrease number of them would destroy the ecosystem of the central South America.

9月19日 20100312NA Agree or disagree? If children want to do well in school, parents should limit the hours of watching TV programs or movies

Some people argue that children would be distracted by TV programs or movies without limitation. The time that spent on watching television or movies is unnecessary since it does not benefit children's lives. However, these persons overlook the advantage of watching TV programs or movies that children could study different things and that it is possible for them to find their interests during watching programs.

First of all, it is a good opportunity for children to learn various kinds of things, such as news, animal worlds and language without limitation. They can even learn the nature of human being and how to face their friends well when watching some movies about wars or daily lives. For example, when I was twelve years old that I was betrayed by my friend Ye, I don't know how to contact with other friends that I sometimes feel humiliate and self-depression. Then one day I watched a television program in which there was a kind of situation that a girl communicate with her friends bravely and show her own feeling to them even after some persons abandoned her. I was encouraged by the program that I open my heart to my friends again.

Besides, watching television or movies can also borrow many interesting things to children so that they could have chance to choose what they're interested in when facing so much information. Children can make their own decisions when facing so many attractions. During this progress, their horizons of knowledge would be broaden, no wonder about sciences or about living principles.

Moreover, if parents limited the time for children to watch TV programs or movies, some unwillingness might happen. It is possible that their children are so attracted to the movies or programs that they are still imagined the scenes of movies or programs even when they're studying. However, if they could spend enough time to watch, they would devote into studying instead. Furthermore, children have their rights to choose whether watching TV programs and movies or not. It is unreasonable for parents to force their children not to do something which would not hurt others. Parents should notice that their children would grow up one day and their children should learn how to arrange their time by themselves but not by parents.

Above all, since children could learn so many things when they watch TV programs or movies and parent's restriction may contribute to oppose results, it is unnecessary for parents to restrict the time of watching TV.
