The Pacific Trade and Development (PAFTAD) Conference series has launched the PAFTAD Young Fellows competition for the 35th PAFTAD Conference to be held in Vancouver from 5-8 June 2012.
The PAFTAD Fellowship for Young Scholars program is specifically aimed at attracting and assisting emerging economists in the Asia Pacific region to become involved with, and contribute to, the work of PAFTAD (http://www.paftad.org/). It is widely considered one of the most distinguished Fellowships available to young researchers in this field.

In 2012, the Young Fellows program will take place in the run-up to the 35th PAFTAD Conference focusing on human capital and economic growth, to be hosted by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada in Vancouver, Canada from 5-8 June, 2012.

PAFTAD FELLOWSHIP FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS

Submission requirements

• Unpublished empirical paper on themes related to Asia Pacific trade and economic development (see www.paftad.org/fellowship for previous topics selected).
• Under 10,000 words (including abstract of less than 300 words).
• Individual author.
• Current résumé (including citizenship(s), date of birth and gender).
• Aged 35 years or younger at 5 June, 2012 (proof of age will be required if selected).
• Be available to participate for the duration of the PAFTAD Conference.
• Have not previously been selected as a PAFTAD Young Fellow.

Due date

Paper and résumé must be emailed to Luke Hurst (luke.hurst@anu.edu.au) by 5pm (AEST), 27 January 2012.

Fellowship entitlements

• Return economy airfare to Vancouver, Canada from home institution.
• Registration for the Young Fellows seminar and PAFTAD conference.
• Accommodation and meals for the duration of the PAFTAD conference (5-8 June).

Involvement in PAFTAD conference

• Present your paper at the Young Fellows seminar (5 June).
• Act as a discussant on another Young Fellow’s paper (5 June).
• Attend and provide comment where possible on the papers presented during the PAFTAD conference (5-8 June).
