The reading passage praises fuel-cell engines in several aspects: easy reachable energy source, no pollution and economy. However, the professor disagrees with it.

Hydrogen is easy to generate which claims by the reading passage is contradicted by professor. The professor says that, actually, though many sources contain hydrogen, it is not available to use. To use hydrogen, it needs to be pure liquid status which needs a very cold environment. However, technology nowadays cannot do that easily.

The professor also claims that pollution problem which can be solved by using fuel-cell engines is also unwarranted. Though the internal-combustions engine makes pollution, the using of hydrogen cannot decrease pollution. For the reason that the hydrogen produce process makes pollution also. However, the reading passage ignores this process by only comparing the by-product of two engines.

Finally, the professor says that the cost will be very high if we use fuel-cell engines. Though the reading passage says that fuel-cell engines produce more energy than internal-combustion engines with the same distance, it overlooks that in the fuel-cell engines, there is a metal which is very expensive. No other substitutes have been found yet. In order to use fuel-cell engines, you have to pay much more than internal-combustion engine. That indicates fuel-cell engines are economy which support by passage is also false.

10月15日 20100813NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? More and more people spend too much money on their pet (dogs, cats and others), although there are better uses for these money. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, many people treat pets as their friends or even  members of their family. With pets at their home, obviously, they have to spend some money on their pets to supply food, deal with disease and so on. Thus (But it also raises a question) it raises a question, does this money should be used on pets? I think the answer is yes (positive).
To consider what the pets bring you. Feeding a dog as a pet will give you happiness, safety feelings and avoiding loneliness. Because of so many benefits, it is very important for the old people to keep a dog for the sake of their children who have their own families cannot stay with them all the time. The olds will feel very lonely and it is not good for their mental health. However, if they feed a dog, their home will become lively again. Dogs are very friendly to their master with whom they will stay all the time. Without their children, the olds can also have a vivid live. What's more, pets are also good for children. Children are curious about everything surrounding them, such as small animals. If they do not have a pet, they will touch and play with other people's pets, such as dogs, which  may be very dangerous. (This …这个理由？)Dogs may bark to them and even bite them. With a dog at home, the safety will be ensured when children playing with their own pet.
With so many advantages I list above, I think that it is wise to spend money on pets. Some people may hold an opinion that, for the olds they can buy some nutrients which will strength their physical health. However, loneliness is usually the bigger  issue in olds than physical health. The food, nutrients or good facilities in their home cannot replace the important role of pets. For children, some people may also claim that toys are good enough for them to play with. Admittedly, toys have its significance to children. The function of pets should not be ignored also. Animals such as pets are living  stuffs, and playing with them provides a good chance for them to learn about our environment.
In summary, though money can be used on others things, it is should also cost on pets.
