10.29  TPO2

Contradicting to the advantages of working as a team mentioned in the passage, the lecturer refutes them with an example of a group project in a company. A new project was assigned to a group and after six months, the outcome was seriously against the passage.

First, individuals in the group did not contribute a lot since each of them had free rights. Therefore, it is less likely for the each member in the group to learn more wider knowledge,expertise or skills than working alone.

What is more,when the project finally received an excellent response, the recognition was reached as a whole instead of mentioning any name.In this way,the attitudes of ones who had paid huge efforts on this project is obviously opposite rather than receiving a sense of success. Hence, it may be hard for the core members to feel rewarding as the passage claims.

Last, as the lecturer says, it might takes much longer time for the group to reach a consensus because they have to hold several meetings and discussions. Furthermore, if some influential people in the group do not think the project as brilliant, it will be dropped for good. Also, when it comes to some seemly creative solutions, even though some of the group members come up with the disagreement, they may continue to work. When the result turns to a negative side, the responsibility is blamed to the whole group instead of a certain one. Thus, the high efficiency is called into question and the creative solutions do not necessarily lead to an outstanding result.

In sum, with further evidences and reasoning,the passage is seriously weaken by the lecturer.

20100522NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Working at home using computers or telephones is better than working in the office.

Different people hold various opinions about the conditions for working. Someone likes to proceed the work at home via computers or telephones,others may prefer working in a traditional way,in the office. As far as I am concerned, the office environment makes me more efficient,creative and gives me a channel to connect to this society.

To begin with, working in the office assists me to keep my high efficiency. Everyday,when I walk into my office, I jump into the state of working diligently simultaneously. Although my job also involves calling the customers and emailing the investor,which could be accomplished at home, I still go to work on time, after taking the crowded buses and subways,because home gives me a sense of relaxation which always triggers me to eat some snacks in the kitchen, take a little snap when I feel tired,or even talk to my friends by phone calls. In this way, the amount of the business I do at home may be less than the half of that I could finish in the office in the same time. Of course, not only my boss but also I myself will be angry and worried about my low quality of work.

What is more, my coworkers will lead me to be more creative which atmosphere is hard to reach at home.When our team is about to plan a business show, the brainstorming is necessary.If I do it at home, it is easy for me to be trapped into a state without any creative ideas. However, when I discuss it with my colleagues, my mind comes to be inspired,becoming more active. Furthermore, when I meet with some unsolvable problems, the colleagues around me could help me in time. For an instance, at the beginning of my work which I was unfamiliar with, my warmhearted coworkers helped me a lot in the operation of the computer software.

Last, working in the office building gives me a way to keep contact with this society. Unlike working at home alone, doing work in the office pushes us to meet people everyday, accept a variety of information and knowledge and get accustomed to this fast-changing society. As a young man, I regard this as important because we are the ones to build a new world for our next generation,we have to be a positive receiver and update ourselves with the pace of surroundings. Furthermore, the advanced equipments,like computers and telephones, sometimes,could not solve all sorts of problems for us. In a sense, talking to people face to face could shorten the distance between us and deal with the work more effectively.

In a nutshell, I prefer to working in the office rather than at home. Considering the efficiency,socializedness and the helpful colleagues,the office is better for my job.

恩恩，我也觉得这篇TPO2的综合有点奇怪。首先它作文的脉络就不那么清晰，或者说是没平时那种三个段每个段一个小结论这么清晰，所以我写的时候就觉得怪怪的。听lecture的时候也没有理好思路。同时我觉得也可能和lecturer用同一个例子来说明三个点有关，这样脉络更加混乱。
