2.20 独立 Do you agree or disagree with the followingstatement? Parents should allow their children to make mistakes and let themlearn from their own mistakes.
Makingmistake plays an essential part in the process of growing up and success. However, due to the anxious of parents for their children's well performing, some strict parents would restrict their children to making mistakes and evennever give their children chances to try in case they do something wrong. Suchphenomenon has become more and more common with the keen competition amongchildren. Personally speaking, I think parents should have a tolerant attitudetowards mistakes and encourage children learn from their own mistakes.
Tobegin with, making mistakes encourage children to explore by themselves, and thisis necessary to their growth. Just imagine, if the parent forbid the child tomake mistake, the only method to realize this "dream" is that the parentguide the child in every step, every decision, and even every minute. Childreneducated in this way would rely on their parents and have difficulty infinishing task alone, not to mention being independent. As a result, childrenbrought up under such condition will have a hard time in socializing for theylack the essential part of growth as well as the spirit of exploration.
Moreover, learning from their own mistakes can help children to establish self-confidenceand be more likely to succeed. If children only make mistakes without learningfrom it, they would forget it immediately and at next time, repeat the samemistake. Therefore, parents should guide children to analyze the reason fordoing things wrongly and summarize experience from it. Only in this way, canchildren reduce the chances of making more mistakes and gain self-confidence,which are important factors towards success.
Inconclusion, children will benefit a lot from making mistakes and learning from theirown mistakes. Hence, I agree that parents should allow children to make mistakesand learn from it.
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? To make children do well at school, parents should limit the hour that a child spends on watching TV. Use specific reasons to support your answer.
TV has become a popular way of entertainment, and children who are indulged in watching TV usually have poor performances in their study. As a result, most of the parents choose to limit the time during which their children spend on watching TV. They hope this method could help children do well at school. However, those parents fail to realize that watching TV is not necessarily the cause for poor performance, and maybe blocked an effective method of learning knowledge to their children. Hence, I do not agree with the opinion that parents should restrict the hour their children spend on watching TV in order to do well at school.
To begin with, the link between poor performance and watching TV is not the hour wasted, but the absent of self-control. A child with self-control will never let amusement produce a negative effect on study. Such child will make schedule and adjust it to his/her study plan, which means they will control their behavior and balance their time spending on study and entertainment. Therefore, if a child lacks self-control, even he/she is forbidden from watching TV, his/her mind would still wandering on the TV shows and the forbidding is in vain. Thus, parents should be clear about the reason for poor performance instead of complaining about watching TV.
Moreover, watching TV properly will have a positive impact on children's study. If children choose to watch programs such as History, they will learn lot of knowledge from it and their love for history will improve their performance on the subject of history. So I think parents should guide their children to choose meaningful TV program and encourage them to think independently rather than limit the hour on watching TV because watching a meaningful TV program can benefit children a lot.
In conclusion, I think watching TV is not necessarily result in poor performance and to some extend can be helpful to children in their study. Therefore, parents should not make the decision to limit the hour children spend on watching TV too hasty.
