Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People who cannot accept criticism will not succeed in a team.

I concede that the pursuit of perfection is a good part of human nature and push us heading forward throughout the entire history. People love to be apprised of their perfect performance and honored as much as possible. However, being completely perfect seems extremely difficult even for the holy. Criticism exists all the time because there are always others that hold different views, especially in a team. Criticism may sound hard to accept, but it is very precious fortune to improve ourselves.

To begin with, as the old saying goes, good medicine may have bad taste. A person, even very intelligent like James Bond, has opportunity to be wrong or confused on some issue. Different personal experiences and emotional concerns will contribute to different judgments and attitudes. In a team, there are teammates from various backgrounds. It is no wonder that criticism easily emerges. I suppose the first step on the way to success is to accept the fact that there would be different voices in a team.   

Furthermore, once it is accepted the existence of a different voice, the wise way is to listen to the criticism and judge with teammates whether it is reasonable. In retrospect, emperors in Chinese history behave diversely. However, good emperors that won most respect and love from the public are good listener of criticism and wise judger. Take Li Shimin, one of the greatest emperors in Tang Dynasty. He was good at listening to criticism and paid great attention to improve his policy. In the end, he began the most prosperous period of Tang Dynasty.  

Finally, nowadays teamwork is of primary importance for success. Sound collaboration in a team is greatly conducive to their fulfillment of goals. I maintain, to realize good teamwork, it is essential for members in a team to conduct good communication between each other.  Accepting criticism is definitely part of communication. After gaining mutual understanding by adequate communication and discussion, criticism will be no more an obstacle.   

To sum up, criticism may provide a good opportunity for us to have a reflection on ourselves and provide a unique angle to look into the issue. By listening to the criticism we could learn from it and enhance our ability of judging as well as knowledge. Besides, good cooperation resulting from mutual understanding and communicating may endow us unexpected friendship and success in a long run. Therefore, I believe accepting criticism is a vital part of achieving success.
