2月29日 11211NA do you agree or disagree with the following statement. Parents should allow their children to make mistakes and let them learn from their own mistakes

    Education commences at the mother's knee and every word spoken within the hearsay of children tends towards the formation of characters. There is little doubt that accumulated knowledge and experiences of ages passed down from parents is an essential element for children's growth. Yet it is also evident that lessons of life learnt by children themselves play an undeniable role to grow up as an independent man. Should parents allow their children to make mistakes and let them learn from their own mistakes? I believe the answer is definitely "Yes".

It is true that giving children complete freedom of making their own choices might cause a number of problems, one of the worst of which would probably be their "going astray". Since nowadays children are exposed to overwhelming violence, drugs, and pornography by means of various media, without the fetters from parents, they are much vulnerable in the society.

However, the advantages of allowing children to make mistakes clearly overweigh the drawbacks. The single most significant thing that the freedom would do would be to make children feel respected. Currently, with the proclamation of protecting their children from social injury, some parents have deprived the independence of making choices from their kids, and seldom can these parents avoid to break their relationship with children. Hopefully, giving children the rights of making their own decisions can make the situation better.

Furthermore, letting children make mistakes and learn from them helps children grow stronger and more independent. As things stand now, children devoid of mistakes or failures are feeble to fight against the troubles they have met: they allow no defects of themselves, and cannot torture a reproach from others. In the contrary, when confronted with difficulties, children who have learnt by doing tend to be tougher to survive and conquer the obstacles of life. Without the assistance from parents, these children feel obliged to follow their own instincts, use their own methods, and come to their own solutions.

I am convinced that most children could benefit from the freedom of making their own mistakes and learning from them. After all, most experiences in life that seemed difficult at the time become valuable lessons for the future. Though the mistakes may cause a number of problems, proper guidance and suggestions from parents can help children embark on the road of a wholesome life.

110422 which kinds of university do you prefer universities whose graduates can find good jobs or universities where there are famous professors?

    A job-oriented university or college can prepare students both specific expertise and social skills and help them find their roles in the society, yet researches also show that for students, study experience in a first-class university with eminent professors plays an undeniable role to get further development in their career life. I believe good education imparted by good professors, in most cases, will help students find their identities and values in the society and eventually the success in their careers.

Most important of all, students would learn not only knowledge, but also virtues and integrity under the guidance of distinguished professors. Most of famous professors enjoy great reputation on account of their abundant knowledge in certain academic realms and their prestige and virtues as masters. No doubt, these masters would inspire their students, lead them into a wonderful academic world, tap their potential, help them create their desires for knowledge and pursue the truth, instead of imparting them the skills of earning money.

Furthermore, “give a man a fish, you have fed him for today; teach a man to fish, and you have fed him for a lifetime.” Most of the job-oriented universities or colleges merely focus on mechanically teaching students what to do and how to work, and students never recognize why they take up such a job and where it leads. On the contrary, good professors enlighten students when they are confronted with and confused about life difficulties. Precious and priceless are the enlightment and instruction, which students derived from their tutors and by which students manage to solve the problems in life independently.

Some teachers show students the results, others reveal the process. Which kind of education do I prefer? I think the answer is definitely the latter one. I am convinced that, equipped with true and far-reaching education, I can travel further not only in career, but in life journey as well.
