题目：We can usually learn much more from people whose views we share than from peoplewhose views contradict our own.



The speaker claims that we can usuallylearn more from people whose views we share than from people whose viewscontradict our own. In my point of view, communication would be easier betweenpeople sharing the same views and learning more from each other. However,arguing with people contradicting our own views would inspire us to accept newideas and enrich our knowledge of different fields.

People learn knowledge from reading by oneselfand communicating with other people sharing the same view or not. Whencommunicating with other people, a person may accept the facts and ideas otherstell us, or he/she may reject the facts and ideas and defend his/her own. Whethera person will accept or reject has a relation with his/her personality and thecommunication atmosphere. When staying with people sharing the same views, itis human nature to feel delighted and be willful to communicate with others. Inthis situation, a person will be happy to share his ideas and accept others’ideas. With well relations with people sharing the same ideas, learning wouldbe easier and people are desired to gain information from others. However, thereare some inevitable limitations in this situation. Sharing ideas with somebodyholding the same views will present a person accepting new ideas and restrainthe imagination. In the situation, people only communicate with the one whohold the same views and his knowledge will very limited.

Communicating with people who contradictour own views may result in a nervous communication atmosphere. It is tough fora person to be delighted to learn when he/she is busy with defending his/herown idea. In this situation, people may choose to present their views tosomebody holding different views with them. They will explain their ideas andciting a plenty of supporting evidence to persuade others to accept theirviews. Most of the time, people will prefer to defend rather than acceptknowledge. Admittedly, new ideas are transmitted among people holding differentviews. After accepting other people’s views, a person will enrich his/herknowledge and broaden his/her views. Knowledge from other views may be valuablefor us. Even if getting less from people who contradict our own, this knowledgemaybe a new way to solving problems we faced. The thriving of Interdisciplinaryis a vigorous evidence for my point.

All in all, communicating with peoplesharing the same ideas with us will form a nice communication atmosphere. Inthis situation, people are delighted to learn more knowledge, but what theylearn is limited. On the other hand, communicating with people who contradictwith us could gain some valuable knowledge that could not learn from peoplesharing the same view. Learning from people contradicting with us is crucialfor the transmission of new ideas.
