Successfulsportspeople can earn a great deal more money than people in many other fields.Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair.Discuss both these views and give your opinion.





Itis not uncommon that successful sportspeople earn markedly high salaries thanother individuals. A large number of famous sportspeople become millionaires.Some people argue that it is unfair but I tend to consider it is notunjustified.


If sportspeoplewant to be successful in their professional areas, they have to devote most oflife time to the boring and intense training on a daily basis. For the sake ofwinning the champions of the sport games, athletes have to suffer aconsiderably long period for practicing, with a lot of pain as well as hurt, whichare hardly for general individuals to bear. In terms of their extraordinaryendurances, therefore, I think they deserve high salaries. Furthermore, thecareer lives for sportsmen and sportswomen are not as long as other occupations’.For most of the athletes, the maximum age of their career lives is 40 years old,following by retirements, which means they can not continue to earn money bycompeting in sports games any more. Since the time for them to earn highsalaries is quite short, they are worthwhile receiving such high rewards.

Somepeople, nevertheless, argue that it is unfair that athletes earn much moremoney than scientists while the contributions they bring to the society are notas significant as the scientists’. Precisely, they tend to think that theathletes just bring amusements to the audiences which can not boost theproductivity of society. Nevertheless, the judgment is unilateral because it isevident that lots of famous athletes have made great contributions to charity.


Inconclusion, I tend to restate my argument that it is justified that athletes receivesuch high salaries, because it is impossible to judge the value of the changeto our lives which sportspeople have brought.
