Does luck have anything to do with success?
When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success. Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific examples and details to explain your position.

my answer:
As the old saying goes, there are several thousand ways to approach the goal of success. For different people, the reasons they succeed vary under different conditions. From the experience of successful people, however, we can conclude that hard working is one of the main reasons to succeed. For instance, Tomas Edison was very diligent and conducted thousands of tests to invent the electric light bulb and finally he succeeded and became the greatest inventor through the long history. Nevertheless, it is too harsh to allege that success only results from hard working. Actually, many other factors do really affect the success of a person and the successful degree, and luck is a vital element among it.

In the long history of human being, there are many people devoted their whole life time to their career, but only a small amount of people become successful and remembered by the offspring. Why? The main reason is that success is the combination between hard working and chances or luck. Without the luck for us to demonstrate our hard working, we may just be an ordinary person. For instance, without the apple dropped from the apple tree in Newton’s orchard hitting the head of Newton, he can’t discover the discipline of gravity by chance. Also, without the Alexander Fleming forgetting to wash the dish containing staphylococcus, the penicillin would have not been found and millions of people would die without it, and Fleming would not be awarded as one of 100 most important persons who have affect the process of human being.

Moreover, in this competitive society, luck is playing a more and more important role in the success of human. With the high quality educational level and information exposure of a broad scope of knowledge, there are many fully-developed and capable guys hunting for limit jobs. Imagine that two persons with the same level applying for the same positions. In this sense, only the lucky one can get the opportunity and get enrolled. Capable persons with luck are more likely be appreciated by their leaders and get promoted, thus have more opportunities to be successful. So, in the modern society, luck is also very important.

In conclusion, we should firstly be diligent enough to work hard and we should never look down upon the function of luck when pursuing the success in our lives.
