Singapore is a good place, especially you would like to have a peaceful and happy day. Never mind on NTU or NUS or SMU or something, if you come here you can enjoy your life. But if you would like to use your Singapore Degree for US PhD candidate, it can help but not much.

If you would like to go to US, you need to prepare more. So many friends of mine are in US now, some are very successful in academia and some are coming back for they cannot find a job in market. Now I think the economy is terrible in US now and the fundings for research and PhD are extremely limited. So it is hard to find a top30 PhD position in these years and find a job after your master graduation. However, if you just would like for master study and come back to China for working, it is easy and you can have a try.

Generally speaking, in the bad economical situation, you are very hard to find and money in US, including PhD scholarship, RA, TA, job, or something else.

一般来说美国好一点的学校的PHD都是有奖学金的吗？而且有同学说那边好的硕士的就业还是蛮不错的（学姐在普林，还有一UCB），我是这么觉得的：如果在新加坡读完研究性硕士并且发现自己在科研方面有些兴趣而且能够在做出某一程度的成绩的时候是有助于申请US 的PHD的吧，毕竟博士是要求有一定出产量的，在硕士基础上申请比本科还是有一定优势的，加上新加坡的老师的博士学校大多是US的，所以以校友的身份推荐也会有优势吧
另外，实验室的学长有建议说我直接读博士，不过我这方面不是很坚定，所以想先读硕士看看，至于工作，还是先把书读完再考虑吧

- - 你不能拿普林和UCB比的，起码这两个也算是大牛校了，另外普林在费城和纽约之间，UCB在加州，东北角和加州算是美国最好找工作的地方了。。。能拿到这两个学校的硕士的，弄个50名以内的phd也不是神马难事。。。

在美帝，硕士出来学校是一方面，地点也很重要的。。。就houston这种综排都100+的学校，找工作完爆呀。。。。

用师姐的话来说，她找工作的时候丝毫没觉得她的Umich比Mich state U 有神马大的优势，唯一拿到的internship是因为公司地点离安娜堡很近。

另外校友身份个人认为完全木有用。。。如果你很好，推出去是木有问题，如果你不好，老板也不会推你的。你好与不好，完全就是凭你的paper来说话，但是，你要有好的paper，有木有一个校友老板推也就无所谓了。。。。

原来是这样，学校地点和将来额工作关系会这么大，看来择校的地点是很重要的因素啊
paper这东西确实是实力的表现，老板都会希望潜力股
你这么一说，我怎么突然觉得申请硕士不如申请博士啊
