Nowadays, people have more alternatives to work. They can either work at home or in the office. The two ways both have advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless, I think that working in the office is better than working at home because it is more efficient.

First, working in the office enables colleagues to communicate more often and more convenient than at home. In the business field which group work is more common today, communication is very important. Working in the office makes it quick for a person to get an answer in his communication with his colleagues if he has a question. However, a person may rely on email, social network or instant message to contact his colleagues when working at home.

Second, it is more efficient to search information in the office rather than at home. In the office, company has its database which can only be available to its employees in the office area. While, when an employee wants to search at home for the information about the company's finance report of last year to evaluate its financial ability in his presentation, he may not get access to the database and cannot accomplish the evaluation.

Third, the effect called peer pressure which is a factor leading to higher work efficiency makes working in office more motivative than working at home. When a person works at home, he easily gets tired or bored working by himself. However, when working in a office, an employee is motivated by his peer colleagues to acquire higher efficiency and more achievement. That is the reason why Microsoft is such an energetic company. Employees get well involved in the team work and are affected by the hardworking and diligent atmosphere in the office.

In conclusion, working in office is more efficient than working at home for three reasons. One is for better communication, another is for abundant information and the third is for peer pressure.
