24号 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:It is easier for parents to raise their children than 50 years ago.

With the evering increasing pace of technology and contitnuous improvement of life quality, raising children seems to be a piece of cake. Nevertheless, parents are facing new challenges that cannot be tackled in a traditional way. It may be easier to keep children alive and healthy, but it will remain a difficult task to adapt them to the society.

We have never felt more relieved than today when it comes to raising a child. We have all kinds of medicines and the most advanced health care system to keep our babies away from disease; we have all the knowledge relevant to raising children in print or in websites; we have nutritious food and warm clothes to buy for them;we have babysitters and kindergarten to help us care for them; we have teachers to teach them. You can see that all kinds of need can be easily satisified.

In the other way around, the highly developed civilization will do harm to family relations. Cellphones and social websites, which are meant for easier communication, have sarcastically widened the generation gap. The younger generations have more in common and share their opinions within their circle, and they will have less to communicate with their parent. And a stronger sense of privacy will not allow their life be intruded by their parents. This will make their parents unware of their condition, whether good or bad, and make mistakes that could have been avoided with a little more communication.

Yet parents are still worrying about our children's well-being. They are so unlucky to live in such a competitive world, with so much temptations around. Without proper guidance, they are more likely to go the wrong way and live a tragic life. Think about the porns, which are accessible to the teenagers nowadays. Without parent's guidance and necessary measures, they are likely to be hurt by adult contents that they cannot bear, and make mistakes that they will regret for life.

Things have changed a lot for todays' parents. There are benifits as well as challenges. If they make the best of the good side and be cautious to the bad side, they can raise better children for a brighter future of human kind.

22作文:It is more enjoyable to have a job and work long hours for three days in a week than to
work shorter hours for five days in a week.

Working seems an unpleasant thing for most of us, and we are trying all methods to get away from it. Before applying for a job, people will pay close attention to the working hours it required. Some will prefer working long hours for two or three days then have a long weekend, while others choose to work shorter hours for five days in a week. Which one is better varies according to the strength of the job and personal preferences.

In the first place, not many jobs can be done in a continuous way without degradation of quality.
For particularly demanding job, working long hours is definitely not a smart choice. For example, driving taxis in a crowded city is very dangerous. The driver needs to stay focus all the time and is always under extreme tension. It won't take much time for them to be tired. If they insist in working despite their bad condition, accidents will be inevitable. Besides, working longer hours in one day won't bring in much cash after the rush hour is gone for taxi drivers, and the same goes for many other kinds of jobs.

In the second place, choices are always subjective. As the saying goes, one person's meat is another person's poison. These days people are getting used to bringing work back home and do extra job at leisure time. While some are complaining about the pressure of work that is overwhelming and seemingly impossible to finish, others are pleased to have the convenience to build an office at home so that they can have fun with their workmates and work at home. If working is fun, and your colleagues are close to you, certainly you would like to spend more time at work. On the contrary, if you feel painful at work, then obviously the less frequently you are remind of it the better.

All in all, whether work long hours for three days is better than work fewer hours for five days in a week is not for sure. Only by taking into account the property of the job and the person making the choice can one be sure what the best is for him.

9.26作业:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:Compared with people who live in urban areas, the people who live in rural areas can take better care of their families.

People always link rural people with harmonious family bond and better adaptability to  tougher life. Thus they will presumptuously reach the conclusion that people in rural areas can take better care of their families than people in urban areas. However, with less developed health care system and public infrastructure, and less education, we can hardly say this is true.

Better treatment is the essential element of better family care. However, since most high level hospitals are in the big city, the sick familiy members in rural areas are more prone to be delayed for timely treatment, and more likely to be misdiagnosed or badly treated. Moreover, when family members got ill, they are willing to suffer and wait till recovery, in order to save time and money, which will lead to a pathetic ending.

Less developed public infrastructure in rural areas will also make matters worse. It is easy for people in urban areas to travel around their neighberhood and pay visit to people that need more care, but people in rural areas will have more trouble in traffic. Moreover, commodities are lacking in rural areas, which will lead to degradation of life quality, and more quarrels with family members.

Last but not least, the education is poor in rural place. If one really cares for the next generation, they should send them to better schools.

10.3作文:Some people think that a university professor should focus time on doing research, while others think that the main role of a professor is to educate students in a university. What is your opinion and why? (Education)

A professor, as it is called, are playing a double role as a teacher and a researcher. Teaching is second to his own career but primary to the reputation of the university and the future of the students rolled in, so either extreme is unacceptable.

On the one hand, the quality of teaching should by no means degrade; If professors never teach, then only new comers(green hand) and less qualified mentors can give lectures. In this case, teachers may make mistakes in their lecture and have less to show off; students may feel too depressed to study well with a poor teacher. Also the course PowerPoint and exams will be less professional without the brightest minds.

on the other hand, the ranking of a university is directly linked with the research made by her professors. Without enough research paper, no one will contribute to the research and functioning of the university, which is terrible. Also, professors' talents should not all be wasted in teaching. They are well-educated researchers and may dazzle the world with their findings.

All in all, either extreme is harmful to the system of university as well as the professor's career. A balance is called between teaching and researching.
