Topic: Governments should offer a free university education to any student who has been admitted to a university but who cannot afford the tuition.
Write a response in which you discuss your views on the policy and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the possible consequences of implementing the policy and explain how these consequences shape your position.
My context
The speaker believes that a tuition-free university education ought to be established by government, in order to promise the enrollment of penurious students who having got college admissions. I tend to disagree; although this free education policy can alleviate students’ financial problems temporally, it cannot virtually help them to get rid of their money deficiency situations and make them financially independent in future live.
At first glance, the balance of empirical evidence seems to lend considerable credence to the speaker’s claim. As having got admissions of universities, the primary obstacle for these indigent students is not being able to raise the enough money to make their college live come true. The free university education policy carried out by the government can approach the threshold problem-financial short, for these students, and ensure their university admissions realize.
In my view, the above policy, however, is just an expedient measure, that sequentially problems will emerge. Under this no requiting policy, although having attained some benefits, impoverish students will got discriminations which is about their special financial benefits, from those who should pay their tuitions. Therefore, these parsimonious students will be in the hazard of being segregated from the general mingling circle, thus their self-esteem and self confidence are going to be destroyed. In this circumstance, these students will be probably to have a more arduous burden which will impose an detrimental influence on their diploma accomplishing.
Another compelling argument against the speaker’s claim is this grant free education policy will undermine their montem to be industrious, and no money refunding will make them irresponsible for their bestows. Without entangling in the tuition fees raising troubles, these students will lack of enthusiasm to be curious and aggressive in their studies. Likewise, without a refunding requirement, these legions of students will think this beneficial is granted, which cause them to lack of the social responsibility virtue.
With the dissent of the speaker’s tacit, establishing a multi-layered subsidiary system is an efficient alternative to the absolute free-charge policy. Government should take a cooperation with university, to provide enough positions in teaching assistant, research assistant , and also part-time jobs in extracurriculum time for these students to earn their tuition and living expends by their own ability. With being able to tackle the the myopic financial problems, this subsidiary system also help students learn how to make living by themselves, which enable to them to be financial independent after graduation.
In sum, the free tuition university education thinking of the speaker can only solve the superficial problems. Instead, I contend that we should not only help these students solve the money-lacking problem, but also make them financial independent and competent in future life.
