刷陈圣元老师的GRE句子填空的时候,觉得里面的section 24的第三题的解释不是很robust.

A. naivete B. obstinateness C. decisiveness D. ingeniousness E. resolve
答案解释是说这个句子是递进转折方式,所以空格应该天一个比young and impressionable 更加深的次,所以选A.
我个人觉得此答案解释不是很具说服力。从句子的关系来说,but nevertheless = 但是仍然, 它还是一个转折,是转折后面就可以填与前面相反的意思,即obstinateness和decisiveness。此题不选C,D的原因我觉得是他们和impressionable是逻辑上矛盾的,不管是转折还是递进,逻辑上都不能矛盾,所以只能选A。
如果词句里面没有impressionable,我觉得ABC都能说得过去。
We realize that John was still young, but we nevertheless surprised at his obstinateness. (不是很通顺,但也说得过去因为年轻人可能obstinaeness,也可能不是)
