Topic: Originality does not mean thinking something that was never thought before; it means putting old ideas together in a new way.

Syllabus:
1.Originality sometimes means thinking something that was never thought before.
2.In another meaning, originality is something that puts old ideas together in a new way.
3.In different fields, there are different meanings of originality.

For a long time, people in the world have been discussing what means originality. Some persons say that originality means thinking what was never thought before, while others think that originality is something putting old ideas in a new way. In my opinion, originality has different meanings in different fields and to different people. In the following discussion, I would like to present evidence to support my standpoint.

To be true, it is usually believed that originality means thinking something that was never thought before. For example, a new idea, a creative work, a new technology and so on. These things were never before and are not the same with the contemporary ideas or work at all. There are so many examples to support the meaning that originality is thinking something new. Copernicus, a famous Polish astronomer, discovered the theory that the earth and other planets revolved around the sun. In his times, nearly everybody believed that the earth was the center of the comics and all the planets revolved around the earth. Copernicus discovered a new theory that had never been thought before. Though this original theory was not accepted by his contemporary people, the history has proved that Copernicus’s theory was a great progress. Another strong example is Einstein Albert, who discovered special and general theories of relativity. His original and creative work revolutionized modern thought on the nature of space and time and formed a theoretical base for the exploitation of atomic energy. So nobody could deny that these work and ideas were not original. In history and modern times, thinking something new that was never thought before is a form of originality.

In addition, putting ideas together sometimes is another meaning of originality. In order to understand the gist of my view, it is necessary to see an example. In the 1960s, America launched a spaceship to the moon and the entire world was astonished by this original work. After several years, scientist who took into a part of this program said that in this famous work there were not any new technology at all and they just put old ideas and technologies together in a new way. Until now nearly everyone in the world has to admit that the program in the 1960s was a creative originality. Thereby putting old ideas in a new way is also a form of being original.

In different fields and to different people, originality has different meanings. Whether originality means creating absolutely new things or putting old ideas in a new way is depended on different fields. In the field of science, both of them are originality, originality often means thinking something that was never thought before. For example, Edison, a famous American inventor, invented an incandescent lamp, microphone and so on. But in the field of art, originality usually has meaning of putting old ideas in a new way. For instance, Vinci, a famous Italian artist, painted well-known works, such as Last Supper, Mona Lisa etc.. The people before him had already painted millions of women. Vinci used the old methods of painting in his own original way and accomplished these famous works. Therefore meanings of originality depend on different fields and different people.

Consequently, due to the analysis and reason mentioned above, which sometimes correlate with one another to generate an integrate whole and thus become more persuasive than any one of them, it could be safely concluded that originality means thinking something that was never thought before or putting old ideas in a new way and. Both of these meanings are right and in different fields originality has different meanings.

Syllabus: ( I FIND THAT SOME SYLLABUSES WHICH HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED TO US BY SOME EXPERTS ON ANALYSIS WRITING DOES NOT GO AROUND THE TOPIC VERY CLOSELY, AND THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR US TO RECONSIDER THE PROBLEM AGAIN. DO YOU AGREE WITH ME?)

IN THE BEGINNING OF THE PARTICIPATION OF GTER WRITING, I HAVE THE SAME HABIT WITH YOU IN THIS POINT, AND I HAVE CHANGE IT.)
