17"There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
Position: It is our obligation to obey all of the laws, no matter it is just or unjust. However, if we think a law is unjust, we can amend it through a legal way .
A Laws ensure the stability of the whole society and the nation. If they, even though having some flaws, are easy to resist, a disarster will come sooner or later.
B Different people has different views. A law that is considered unjust may be in fact just.
C Even if a law is indeed unjust, it should be corrected legally, and before the amendment comes out, everyone ought to obey it.
Laws are the principle of a country or a society, and needless to say, it plays an important role in stablizing the nation. But, sometimes, we can feel that some law are not fit, that is to say, unjust in some sense. Thus, some, who believe in just, disobey and resist these so-called unjust laws. The resistance to laws, I take leave to doubt, is not right, even though the law they resist indeed has some weakpoint. It is the obligation of us citizens to obey all of the laws, no matter it is just or unjust. However, if a law is definitely unjust, we can amend it through a legal way.
The important function of laws is that they ensure the stability of the whole society and the nation. If they, even though having some flaws, are easy to resist, a disarster will come sooner or later. In modern society, almost all the movements are based on laws, the lack of which will damage the society seriously. Each of us must communicate with different persons, including those with a high spirite and those boors. To defend our own interests, preventing it from damaging, the most effective measure that we can take is law, which serves as a God, regulating everyone's behavior. Think yourself as a businessman, who make a trade with a company. You are so unfortunate that the company has deceived you and shifted a mint of monry from your account surrepticiously. What should you do? Yes, what is the most important is to prosecute the company. Only in this way can we protect ourselves, and only in this way, can a country work well. History has proved that the nation without a mature structure of laws, in the end, will be trapped into confusion. We can see the case of China in 1910s, when the former Dynasty Qing had nearly been overturned and the laws had lost their effect completely. Disorder of the whole society, just like a demon, made Chinese suffer a lot. This had maintained for nearly 40 years until the newbirth of the People's Republic of China. After 1949, laws were regulated and the society returned to peace. From it, it is obvious that law, the fundametal of the nation, is indispensable.
Further more, different people has different views about the extend of justice of a law. It is likely that the law who think is unjust is, from a high level, just and suitable to the society. If it receives resist, the nation will receive harmness. The well-being of the individual citizens, on most occasions, has a lot in common with the interest of the whole society. But, sometimes, they are in the opposite directions. Whenever this happens, the law, which represents the interest of the nation and the majority of the people, will inevitably deprive that of some persons or groups. In a giant country, it is common. Just put yourself in the position of those whose interest is deprived by the law and it is quite possible that you will say that the law is unjust, because it brings you negative influence. Then, rechange yourself into another, whose is just an outsider, and probably, you will change your mind. And that the crux. Sometimes, law is unjust when it is opposite to us, even though it is actually just. If we risist it, just because we only fix our eyes on ourselves, the society will be damaged as a result of the resist. Thus, when we resist a law, we should think twice before leap.
However, we can not say, that all the laws are absolutely correct, and they are all just without any exeption. If, after a careful examination and a wide-range discussion, some law is asserted unjust or unsuitable, it is our obligation the resist it and amend it. However, that does never mean we could violate it if we like, at anytime, on any circumstances, but we should amend it with the legal right. Before the amendment is enacted, what we should do is still to obey the law. The reanson of this is nothing but the order is the crucial principle that makes sure of the vectification of the law. Merely with this method can we expect a new, more just law.
In sum, obeying to laws is the obligation of every citizens, whether it is just or unjust. On the other hand, to resist a really unjust law is permitted, not disorderly, but legally. |
