Privacy in an age of publicity

This article centers with the issue of espionage, personal privacy, and surveillance from government. It firstly reviewed the beginning of the eavesdropping event happened in 1844, and many details for this event are illustrated. This event ended in the abolishing of the government’s secret department of the post office in Italy. However, as the author indicated, the double secret- secret’s secret would exist still. Moving forward, the author transfers his discussion into the recent Prism event in U.S. and compared the similarity between these two event, which, signify their character in their times, the former is paper based letter and latter is email and other private information on internet. And finally the author shows his worry that privacy and secrecy problem will exist because finding out problem is always later than the updating of technology
