224.Censorship is rarely, if ever, justified.

Censorship by certain groups of authority against specific behavior or ideas has accompnied the human history since the classification of the people appeared. Why censorship? Censorship is always carried out by authoritise of the society with the intention to protect their interest and status either in economic or in political area. It has been seen that the frequency and coverage of censorship vary with the historical state of the social evolution. But in a demacratic society the censorship is confined  to such an extent so that the frequency is reduced as small as possible, apparently with efficiency raised, the coverage is condensed as much as possible.

Societies of different patterns have their specific types of censorship in that they have respective interest allocating organizations. For example, in USA before the native war, there exsisted slavery in the South, which mainly resulted from the economic state of the South--it heavily depend on the exportation of the raw materials as cotten, tea,tobacco to the European countries. While under the producing capacity of that time, cheap labor was in great need. So the great multitude of Negroes is of huge vitality to the Southern dominant groups. Thus,to maintain that convention, they have to go all the way to protect their social constitution which they rely on deeply. Censorship, of course, was inevitable. Any ideas rebuked or weighted against the principle of their interest are strictly precluded from being diffued among the citizens, for which has the chances of arousing people's discontent and undermining the basis of the society. So it is manifest that the censorship of that time is quite different from the type of the present democratic US. society.

In a society of democracy, the censorship frequency and coverage are significantly reduced for the intrinsic change contrasted with before. The essence of democracy is that every people are entitled the right to disent to other ideas even that of the dominant interest groups if they don't violate the fundamentals of the society while they act. As a result, the censorship's coverage is obviously decreased to adapt to the range democracy sets for it. In the democratic organization, the social progress are propulsed by the inventiness which must be carefully cultivated without any redundant censorship of the people's ideas and deeds. Much too restrictions upon pelples's deeds will undoubtedly make the sparks of originality wither, hence obstruct the society's progression. Although the reasons listed above are in favor of the reducing of censorship, nevertheless, a proper extent of censorship is necessary. It is an antiseptic against the evil actions of the humans originating from the flaws of human nature, which will cause losses to the society if not repressed. Moreover, the justice of the censorship is indispensable which is the requirement and guarantee of democracy.

We can reach our final conclusion from all the above (reasoning): the coverage of censorship is determined by the social patterns,furthermore censorship is a tool for the dominant groups of a society and as a result, censorship in a democratic society is much more reduced than before as corresponds to the nature of democracy, while certain extent is necessary to protect the progression of a democratic society.
