147"Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose  between them."  (+

Recently, people are always taking about the problem of whether tradition and modernization are compatible.  Some people declare that we must choose between them, for they are incompatible. Obviously, it must be due to the fault of those who have never deeply and carefully considered them that they come to such an arbitrary and improper judgment. In my opinion, I believe that tradition and modernization are greatly harmony under most circumstances.

First of all, the marriage of tradition with modernization is always expected to produce some useful and interesting children. As we know clearly, not all things are so hugely perfect that no demerit can be found and no improvement can be eventually made. In most cases, just like one sword bears two blades, either tradition or modernization has both advantages and disadvantages in itself. However, once they could tightly and properly get combined, they could merely exert their advantages and then create an astonishing and satisfactory result. A good case in point is medicine, through many years of clinical study and observation, we find that it is very effective and efficient to treat acute abdomen symptom with Chinese traditional medicine and modern medicine. Because the modern medicine which lays much emphasis on operation methods in treating this disease, though effective in solving the sign of abdominal pain, can easily cause severe intestinal obstruction which can result in constipation and self toxication, while the Chinese traditional medicine which is good at mediating function of the whole body, including gastrointestinal peristalsis, could easily solve such a disgusting post-operative complications. Under this circumstance, it is the successful and beautiful combination of tradition and modernization that creates a miracle in treating such a disease which has ever terribly haunted the imagination and extremely baffled numerous doctors.

In addition, the tradition and modernization bears many principles in common, which makes them inter-compensating and mutually propelled. In some sense, a great many of modern theories are derived from traditional ideas. Inversely, a great deal of traditional ideas get ameliorated and sublimed. In other words, we manage our modern social institution in terms of traditional attitudes directly or after modification. For instance, as the famous Chinese saying goes, "One can live well in great danger and die quickly in big easy", which reminds us that we should bear awareness of menace which can urge us to improve ourselves time and time again. Accidentally, as my anesthesiology supervisor in my college instructs me at times that, "In the modern society, there are costs and risks to a program of action, but they are far less than the long range risks and costs of comfortable inaction". Those two words are, more or less, articulated from distinct angles, but they have both emphasized the importance of self-improvement, which share, to a large extent, in common. Accordingly, this is another good case in substantiation of tradition and modernization are conspicuously not incompatible. Two different ideas, though respectively comes from tradition and modernization, reflect similar wisdom in conducting contemporary people, which exhibit a perfect inter-explanation.

In summary, taking into account what have been discussed above, we can easily find out that tradition and modernization are undoubtedly compatible. The seemingly divergence set for tradition and modernization is not the incompatibility so much as their harmony of combination and necessity of compensation. What we must choose is either of them when they are same or both of them when they are mutually compensated.

后记:
1.读了新概念4 的19课(旧版),有这么一句:The problem set for the society is not the virtue of the type so much as its dequency. 翻译:给社会所设置的问题,与其说是这类人的品德,不如说是他们的能力。
sth be not....so much as.....与其说是,不如说是。 感觉此句得甚好,和 not only.... but also...., hardly..... when....., 等一样,是可以用作闪亮句型的,与大家分享。

2. 本文相对好写一点,希望考试能抽到这类题就好了,写完后, 543字. 修改一下,

3. 好词连载,----奉献给阅读和修改我文章的G友们.
(2)有所保留:generally, generally speaking, idealy, in a sense, in some sense, in a large sense, likely, normally, perhaps, possibly, potentially, probably, to some extent, to a great extent, to a certain degree,

There can be miracles when you believe.Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill. Who knows what miracles you can acheive. When you believe somhow you will. You will when you believe.
