对与个性的最大考验在于一个人是否能够适应不断变化的社会规范而不牺牲自己的原则。

提纲: 1. 要成功的适应变化的社会规范, 需要决心和勇气来抛弃以前的行为和思考方式,不管中间会产生安全感和自我存在的缺失.
2. 要在适应中要保持作人的原则,需要冷静的头脑来抵抗外界的诱惑.
3.决心.勇气,冷静的头脑是好的性格不可缺少的

What is a successful character? What is a reasonable standard to test characters? What should we do if we want to improve our characters? While nowadays there arise argumentations aboat  people’s characters, I foundamentally agree to the assertion that whether one is able to adapt to changing social conventions without sacrificing one's principles is a crucial test of character.

      First of all, to carry out the adaption successfully asks for courage and determination to revise even totally abandon the old methods of thinking and behaving, regardless the lose of security and identity in the process. As social conventions usually founction as the standards by which one defines and evaluates himself, one could find security and his identity with assitance of unvarying social conventions. However, once social conventions begin to change and one wants to adapt to such transition, the individual must abandon the security and indentity gained in the old circumstance and face an unfamiliar sorrounding with a sense of lost, which inevitably brings about suffering pains that only people equipped with enough courage and determination can bear. For example, as the society has stepped into the times of market ecnomy and social conventions towards becoming rich has consequently changed, those who want to adapt to the transition must get through the pain of giving up the contentness of equalitarianism and confronting a competitive, and more complicated times. Unless they have sufficent courage and determination, they dare never step even a little step.

      Secondly, to keep one’s principles while adapting to changing social conventions requires in the individual sober minds to avoid being captivated by fascinating allurements. Principles of human being, such as moral standards and behavior comfomities, can to some degree be defined as canonical rationales among complex social relationships. In fact, one’s principles construct themselves as the basis on wich the personality is built. On many occassions, while it seems a shortcut towards an easy adaption to sacrifice some of one’s principles, the individual who is adapting to the change arduously and exhaustedly in cruel reality has to be sober enough to resist being captivated by these allurements. If not, he will necessarily get lost, and his life can probably be ruined. In the times of market, social convensions towards richness become positive, and getting rich through legal approches receives not only encouragement from government but also appriciation from the public. However, someone without sober minds sacrifice their principles and deviate from the right path after failing to resist kinds of allurements. Embezzlement, bribery, thievery, and many other criminal behaviors, which finally ruin their lives, come out.

Finally, courage, determination, and sober minds, are indispensable to a satisfying character. Without courage and determination, we will not be able to stick to our ideals and try to make them realized, not to mention persevere in while getting trapped. On the other hand, without sober minds, we are prone to behave ourselves recklessly and incautiously, and be susceptible while facing allurments. In a word, if we don’t equip ourselves with courage, determination, and sober minds, we can never say that our characters are satisfying ones that could brings about both personal progress and social development.

    In sum, only when one is able to adapt to changing social conventions without sacrificing one's principles, he has gotten through a crucial test of his character. In that case, he has proceeded a long way on the march towards a eligible character that is important for self-complishment as well as public intertests.

第三个finally那样子放恐怕不如直接在各段之后接...是...in character什么什么的。单独列出来不是太舒服。第二个body的ts个人认为还是不如继续改改，哪怕是To ... requires，which is 什么什么 essential in character之类的。这两点似乎有点重复~总之我的意思就是任何段落都不能脱离crucial test而单独描写character（除非是最开始打铺垫）

比上一个好多了，不过还不能算作是高水平。

觉得body3 是很明显的跑题，topic的重点在character, changing social conventions and principle 的关系，谁问你好的性格是什么了，况且这里也不牵扯性格好坏的问题。我能想得到的一点是要解释一些character& principle是不是所有的principle都是应该坚持的，因为一般principle都是主观指定的，随着社会的发展和人们道德观念的变化，原则也应该有调整。我想不应该把中文里的原则与英文中的principle 等同起来。
