回应：我同意你的第二点反驳，驱逐外国货后，也不一定就能造成垄断，国货间也可以相互竞争。但是第一点我那么说是因为我开头把范围限制在了higher price of domestic goods

Contrary to the reading passage, the professor in the lecture argues that the invasion of the zebra mussel could be stopped and does not pose a substantial threat to freshwater fish populations.

First, the reading passage asserts that the zebra mussel could survive in the fresh water in ship, and it is transported by ships to all of North America and thus it could not be stopped from colonizing all of North America.  However, the professor claims that ships could refill with ocean water in which zebra mussel could not survive.  The previous though that it could not be stopped is due to lacking of knowledge.

Second, the professor asserts that zebra mussel does have predators after a period of colonization.  The local birds are becoming to eat a lot of zebra mussel after their colonizing.  This is just the opposite of what the reading passage, declaring that zebra mussels have no predators in their new habitat.

Finally, while the reading passage argues that zebra mussel pose a big threat to the overall fish population in habitats, the professor argues otherwise.  Although zebra mussels indeed have a negative impact on some of the fish population in new habitats, they have a positive one on others.  For example, the zebra mussels provide the fishes feeding at the bottom at the ocean with nutrients, necessary for these fishes to survive.

Based on the reasons above, the professor argues that the previous misunderstanding of the zebra mussel is due to insufficient knowledge and there are evidence that could falsify the reasons held in the reading passage.
