精算的PROGRAM也分为PROFESSIONAL和ACADEMIC的，后者是读PHD的多一些，如果是PROFESSIONAL，一般是MASTER，RA机会没有PHD的多。

收到Uiowa的ad，UIUC说2月份会通知我给不给奖。至于wisconsin，我是网上申请的，交了申请费就不理我了，可是这个是我最想去的，55555。

UIUC好像只有UNDER的PROGRAM， UIOWA不错，不过地方就太差了点，农村中的农村，据说IOWA是美国产猪最多的州，：）。W-M当然是最牛的啦，学校好，地方好，找工作也方便。

找工作的话，你当TA或RA没什么区别。TA锻炼你EXPRESS IDEA, COMMUNICATION，LEADERSHIP和SPOKEN ENGLISH的能力，RA锻炼你作研究的能力。各有所长。找工作关键是你的INTERVIEW，只要你能说服他，能让他感觉非你不可，就OK啦。我还得在这方面下下苦工喔。。。

关键是据我所知，他们那里去年毕业的中国人都找到工作了。不知道UIUC每年有多少人通过4门考试，找工作的情况如何。学校主页上给的list是incomplete。

我也接到了UI的AD，但是明确说了不给奖。我也申了UW，反正催我寄了正式G,T成绩后就再也不理我了，好像给奖学金的可能不大，我也是后来才知道的。UIUC我因为TSE成绩不够，所以就没有申了。楼主都申请的精算吗？交流一下？

其实不管是哪所学校，最重要的是能让你毕业后找到工作。以上三所都很牛的。恭喜恭喜！

严重同意kenwind 斑竹的说法，现在美国的经济不好，找工作巨难，我的一个师兄前年毕业的，虽然是不是学精算的，但是也考了3门，都没找到工作。只能找了个学校继续读博士。顺便问问，斑竹是不是今年毕业呀，目前有没有inter？？

另外，说到UIowa，他们没有明确说不给我，信里说：
You are being considered for financial aid.  We will notify you of that decision by April 15.  Most of the financial aid in our program is in the form of teaching assistantships.  Therefore you would improve your chances of getting an award if you would provide more information about the teaching that you have done, particularly your TA at Toledo.  Things like student and faculty evaluations of your  teaching would be useful.  Also, you did not supply any references from Toledo.  These would be useful, too

The main emphasis of our M.S. program in actuarial science is based on the syllabi for Exams 2, 3 and 4 of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). The syllabi for these exams can be found at the web site http://www.soa.org. When there are enough interested students and a faculty member is available, we teach a course on asset and liability management. This course, and other courses taught by the Department of Finance in our College of Business, can help you prepare for Exam 6 and Exam 8 (Investment track or Finance track) of the SOA, and Exam 8 of the CAS.

I would recommend that you attempt to pass Exam 1 by May, 2004--if you do not, then you should plan to take it in November 2004.  The SOA and CAS are changing the exam structure in 2005.  It is possible that you will be able to get credit for what is now Exam 2  by taking courses in Economics and Finance as well as an exam in the Theory of Interest.  In fall semesters we teach 22S:180, Mathematics of Finance, which covers the theory of interest portion of what is now Exam 2.   Depending on the changes made in the exam structure, you should expect to write Exam 3 in November 2005, and Exam 4 in May 2006, or perhaps these two exams in the other order.  In November, 2003, 31 Iowa students wrote Exam 3, of which 24 passed.  In May, 2003, 29 Iowa students took Course 4, of which 22 passed.
