从三段同样意思的句子分析行文中的长句使用

优秀的长句，一篇文章有一个足矣。我觉得这基本上属于可与不可求的类型。

不知道这些日子来是不是我真的跑了语感，总觉得修改后也不对劲，譬如：
修改一：

Apparently, then, politics, the art of the manipulation of society and personal relations, opposes morality

这个句子头重脚轻，“Apparently, then,”固然用的地道，但是有做作之嫌，为什么不是Then,morality is apparently opposed by the politics……”?单从句子上似乎更好些。放入文章明天再看，今天实在困了……
还有就是修改二的一句：

Thus politics, the art of the manipulation of society and personal relations, apparently opposes morality, that basic humanity which, inherited through tradition and culture, relies on the solid motivation and credibility of integrated human beings.

这个长句从that开始起就觉得不对劲，大家不觉得吗？
