spelling

This might sound like I'm a bitching Puritan (ok fine so in a way I am), but I wonder if it won't be better if we use the standard spelling of English words here instead of the u/2/cos/kewl variety.

It is my impression that people come here to improve their English, and in my opinion they could be better served if they start to spell things in the regular way. That's all.

However, personally speaking, to use some concise expression such as U or coz or plz is really a habit for many buddies, myself included. I have once deemed it unharmful as everybody could understand it, right?
   Anyway, this is simply my personal viewpoint. I will absolutely obey the common rule of our large forum any time:)

Actually, I don't think there is any relation between the regular way spelling and improving English.
Those people use ppl (people), coz, 2morrow, etc when they are chating, just like we input 88 when saying goodbye and 9494 to express agreement. But do you think it's useful to improve Chinese even if there are some foreigners use it?
