I fundamentally agree with the speaker, in the following paragraphs, I will give my case-by-case analyses.

The individual responsibility is gradually formed and embodied in the process that a person participates in social activities. Form this point we can easily see that the individual, however weak his or her power is , plays a central role in the social activities, as the society is a general set of countless individuals. A case in point is the story of Martin Luther King, Jr. As an individual, he has little power compared to the society as a whole, as well as his individual responsibility, and this comparison is even great in consideration to his color. However, Martin Luther King fulfilled his individual responsibility by joining the black people together to fight against racialism in America. At last he sacrificed his life for his mission. This example potently illustrates that the individual responsibility is of central importance in the society, even the power that one individual has is small and weak; he can also fulfill his responsibility by his own endeavor.

Nevertheless, individual responsibility is called, as a fiction is not a groundless claim due to several aspects. As stated in the second paragraph, the society is a set of countless individuals, and as a result the individual power is diluted in the mass. The activities that one needs to fulfill his individual responsibility to his family, company and the society as a whole are not always under his control. What’s more, sometimes the effort that an individual gave to accomplish his responsibility maybe made in vain by the society itself. The great Chinese philosopher Han fei, who held his responsibility to use his theory to thrive his motherland, the country that is called Han, was denied by the government again and again. However, when he realized that there was no way he could fulfill his responsibility to his country, he decided to give his theory to another powerful country, whose king was ambitious and open-minded. The tragedy is, though the king welcomed him, he was envied by the king's fellows, who killed him before he put his theory into piracies in that country. Disappointed I am, I realized why this responsibility is called as a fiction, and the reason is quite clear to see with the help of Han fei 's story, that is individual impotency and uncertainty.

In conclusion, in balance of the individual power and impotency, this fiction is necessary while sometimes hard to realize. While we admit and cheer for individual power, we must confess that this power can not easily be obviously useful to the society as a whole. Thus, it is better to hold our individual responsibilities while at the same time admit it is only a fiction, however necessary it may be.
