12"People's attitudes are determined more by their immediate situation or surroundings than by any internal characteristic."
The statement of "People's attitudes are determined more by their immediate situation or surroundings than by any internal characteristic." Exactly explained how altitudes are determined.
Admittedly, people’s altitudes are determined(恐怕在这里determine可以换成更好的词) by both of their immediate situation and their internal characteristic. A person under different conditions may have completely contradicted(?) altitudes. A young single man may oppose appropriating more money for a grammar school in his community, thinking that this will only add his tax burden(后半句?); However, if he had a little daughter who studies at that school, he may support the appropriation. Furthermore (In addition), people don’t make decisions only by their immediate surroundings.(FT,don't make ... only by 未免太过chinglish了吧) Their intrinsic characteristic also is(is also) a very important determinant.(表达awkward) A case in point, a woman with a strong sense of sympathy for homeless people, may propose to set up a home for these destitute people. This example(光这一个恐怕不够吧,是不是写两个人在相同环境决定不同比较好?) illustrates that people’s altitudes are decided not only by people’s surrounding, but also by people’s intrinsic characteristic, such as the worldview, dispositions and tempers. Simply put, both people’s immediate surrounding and their internal characteristic determine people’s altitudes.
However, (我觉得however这个词用得比较生硬,用什么更好呢?)which factor affect people’s altitude more ?(这个TS倒不如用陈述句直接写,用while ... on considering..之类的都能连起来) I think, mostly(这是干什么用的?), immediate surrounding is more important in determining people’s altitudes. That’s because when thinking of an issue, a social problem and a phenomena(晕倒,单复数!), a person’s attitude is greatly affected by her positions in the society. (这里用什么连词好)A person’s positions vary with circumstances around her, therefore her attitude may diverge even to the same issue.(上面几句话都觉得不清不楚) Here is a simple example. A car worker, who has just lost his job, may blame his unemployment on cars manufactured in foreign countries. So he may object international trade. Nevertheless, when he buys a pair of shoes, he may find that the shoes produced in other countries are as good as those made domestically, moreover, they are much cheaper. Then buying much cheaper and better product as a consumer, the car worker may not have a hatred for international trade. This example illustrates that people’s altitudes may be opposite in different circumstances. Every one may have such experience that when we decide whether to support or disapprove a policy, our altitudes are primarily depended on what we may potentially get and potentially lose from the policy. A tax reducing plan may be welcome among the middle class people, but may be objected by the people who live on the allowance from government. From the analysis above, it can be concluded that people’s attitudes is influenced more by immediate surroundings than by people’s internal characteristics. 你只是说明了people's attitude are influenced by the immediate situations.
Moreover, myriads of immediate situations affect the development of a person’s intrinsic quality, such as personal experience, education background even(除了even还能用什么) 如果不一定非要递进的话可以用as well as的 the changes of one’s country. Most of us are familiar with such stories that a person diverts his/her way of living due to an experience of great importance to him or her self. In long term, situations have an effect on people’s internal characteristics. All in all, we have good reason to conclude that It is immediate situations that determine more greatly, people’s attitudes, which are also affected by people’s nature.
这一段涉及到的是一个更大的话题,你等于提出了characteristics are fundamentally determined by immediate situations. |
