Issue123 "It is possible to identify a person's politics within a very short time of meeting him or her. Everything about people-their clothes, their friends, the way they talk, what they eat-reflects their political beliefs."

After careful and objective analysis about the issue whether we can identify a person's politics in a short time, I find my view partly consistent with the author's. Indubitably, we can get a man' political belief from the way he talk and his friend. However, in my opinion, what a man wears and eats has little business with his political belief. In the following discussion, I will show my evidence to substantiate my view.

In the first place, it is really possible that we can identify the political belief of a certain man within a short time by the way he talks. Every day, we contact with different people in our life. It can be demonstrated by our daily experience that the topic concerning politics is inevitable in our gossips, ranging from those between acquaintances to those between people who just know each other, and no matter what the percentage it shares. Man is a kind of animal that bears an independent thinking about everything, when they are talking about something, however objective it is, we tend to express our own idea about the issue that we just mentioned. Therefore, it will not be strange that a man conveys his specific political standpoint through his talk with others, about the current policy of the government or something else in politics.  

In the second place, people tend to get along well with others sharing the same beliefs with them, especially political ones. There are some old proverbs saying that "bird of the same feather flock together" or "like to like", which means people who have a certain belief, interest, hobby or something else in common seems easily to become close friend. We need look no further than the friendship between Marx and Engels, whose communistic thoughts are highly valued in china and other socialistic country, to see the truth of my view. From a pure point of their friendship, apart from the question that whether their theory is reasonable enough or not, both of the two thinker shared the same political belief and the same ideal, that is to establish a world of communism. Consequently, we can easily judge the political belief of either one of the two from that of the other.   

In the final analysis, however, the author unfairly suggests that we can know one's political belief from what they wear and what they eat, which undermine the reasonability of the author's statement. Maybe it is true that in the hierarchal society, the quality of people's food and clothes can reveal their status in the society and thus convey their political standpoint. However, in today's democratic society, our humankind are leading better lives than before, a variety of foods and clothes are accessible to all the people; even if some kind of foods and clothes are too expensive for the most of people to afford to, however, possessing them is no longer representative of a certain political belief.   

To sum up, I consent to the author with some reservation. Through the discussion mentioned above, we can easily reach the conclusion that we have quite a lot of ways to know one's political belief, such as judging from the way he talk or from the people close to him, however, in current society, what people wear and eat have little to do with their political belief.

总的来说还可以，不过题目中还有一个意思就是“从短时间内即可知道一个人的政治主张”，这个地方其实可以反驳或者让步一下，因为也有日久见人心这么一说，很多时候短期内看到的并不全面。
