Argument 162
recent study shows that people living on the continent of North America suffer 9 times more chronic fatigue and 31 times more chronic depression than do people living on the continent of Asia. Interestingly, Asians, on average, eat 20 grams of soy per day, whereas North Americans eat virtually none. It turns out that soy contains phytochemicals called isoflavones, which have been found to possess disease-preventing properties. Thus, North Americans should consider eating soy on a regular basis as a way of preventing fatigue and depression.

In this argument the author concludes that North Americans should eat soy on a regular basis as a way of preventing fatigue and depression. To support this conclusion the author provides evidence that people in North America suffer 9 times more chronic fatigue and 31 times more chronic depression than do people living on the continent of Asia. In addition, the author cites the fact that the Asians eat 20 grams of soy per day compares to none that North Americans eat. The argument seems plausible at first glance. However, a careful examination would reveal how groundless it is.

To begin with , The information generates from the study the author cited that people living on the continent of North America suffer 9 times more chronic fatigue and 31 times more chronic depression than do people living on the continent of Asia,  is too vague for us to better evaluate the conclusion drown from it.  The author does not provide the detail information about the number of the people surveyed in this study and the number of the respondents.  Even if the people surveyed in the study is chosen randomly is still unknown. It is entirely possible that the North American people studied are almost the eldly people whose health condition is not very well yet. While all the people in Asia surveyed are adults and all in a good health. In that case, it would be unwise for the author to reach in his conclusion.

Furthermore , no evidence has been given to prove that it is the amount of the grams eaten that cause the different times of the depression .It is quite possible that it is the Asian  people's habits of foods or living that result in the better health condition . Or it is very likely that the real reason of the difference of the times of depression between the two kinds of people is the environment condition just like the climates or the pressures that the two kinds of people suffers in daily life .

Finally, the author commits a fallacy of false analogy. Given that it is the different amount of grams eaten in daily life that results in the different health conditions. It is also unfounded that the North Americans should eat more grams to improve their healthy. To strengthen this conclusion ,
more studies should be performed to ensure that eating gram is also helpful for American people . And another possibility should be considered in the study that whether there is another kind of food   that is more helpful for the American people.. So that  the author should provide more evidence to make sure that eating soy is the best way for the people in North American to improve their healthy.

To sum up. The argument is not well reasoned as it stands. To strengthen this argument , the author would have to provide more information to make it convincing that the people in north America is indeed suffers more times of depression than the people in Asia . To better evaluate the argument, more evidence should be offered that eating gram is the right cause of the depression. And therefore eating more soy would be help in improving people's health condition

Or it is very likely that the real reason of the difference of the times of depression between the two kinds of people is the environment condition just like the climates or the pressures that the two kinds of people suffers in daily life . (局出具体的differences,如press of working, habit, medical condition, environment problem, etc.)

Finally, the author commits a fallacy of false analogy(??other factors or negative effects). Given that it is the different amount of grams eaten in daily life that results in the different health conditions. It is also unfounded that the North Americans should eat more grams to improve their healthy. Suggestion: shorten the beginning and last paragraphs, and strengthen the main bodies
In a word, you have done a good work in this argument, while there are minor mistakes or defeats.
In the point of my view, I would give you 5!
