问题主要在第一个空上，我在astounding跟trite里面犹豫，最后选了trite。
我不解的是，in no way astounding 不就是说一点也不令人惊讶，那么下面跟的句子，说历史上这种因为成功而自满的例子很多之类的，为什么用still呢？still不是表示转折么，既然“一点也不令人惊讶”，那历史上这种例子很多不是自然的事情吗？不存在转折呀。如果用了still，那上一句不是应该说这种情况还是不常见 in no way trite吗？

still 也有仍然的意思，to a greater degree or extent; used with comparisons
而且你自己也发现了，这段话前后句子直接意思是连贯的，所以没有转折啊，不要想多了。
但是这个并不影响你选astounding吧，trite形容observation真的很奇怪

still本身不是转折标志，它的转折是因为前后语境的关系发生变化。

我想要减肥，我still吃很多。这句话是有转折的，但still在其中还是表示延续。
