------题目------
People have been so encouraged by society to focus on apparent differences that they fail to see meaningful similarities among ideas, individuals, and groups.
------提纲------
Position : Agree
Do people fail to see meaningful similarities among ideas, individuals, and groups while focusing on apparent differences encouraged by society, just as the speaker asserts? I fundamentally agree with the speaker, and bolster the suggestion that meaningful similarities should catch people's attention as well.
First of all, similar ideas in scientific research are not less significant than different ones. As we know, scientific and technological development is a process of accumulation (of) absorbing wisdom and intelligent thoughts of forerunners. One needn't become upset when he or she promotes an idea or thought that has been already claimed. To consider and comprehend the similarities between two ideas and then make advancements or form a better solution, is also a success indeed. One of he greatest scientists, Newton, once said that "I can see further just because I stand on the shoulder of giants". This statement best demonstrates the significance of similarities in scientific search.(我不觉得牛顿的这句话可以说明你想表达的问题,他的话如果作为诸如“伟大的科学进步不是一个人可以完成的”还是可以的,但是从他的话中体现不出“相似性”的重要性,你说呢?) On the other hand, trying to search for entirely different ideas without taking meaningful similarities into consideration is most likely to lead to failure in the end.(没有很好进行论证) In a word, similarities make sense in scientific field.(总觉得这段论证的比较单薄,没有什么说服力)
The second reason I would like to point out is that fundamental similarities ought to be encouraged in a group as well. Members in a group come from different environment with various experiences. Then what brings all of them together? It is no doubt that similarity(ies), not differences, serves(serve) it. Perhaps their common interest in playing football, same purpose to pass an examination, or just impetus to communicate with each other makes a group reasonable. Adversely, turning out to be different from the mainstream in a group would probably make itself rejected. Imagine a student who tries to be different at school. If he or she plays video games day after day, make fun of others at dormitories, and cheat in the final examination, he/she would be criticized by the school and teachers, while(这个while放在这是什么意思?) no other pupils would like to play with he/she(him/her) any more.(这个例子也不好,整天玩游戏就是focus on apparent differences 吗? 我觉得有点跑题了,题目主要是说只“重视明显的不同”而忽视了“相似”, 能说一个成天玩游戏,考试作弊的孩子是在“重视明显的不同而忽视相似”吗?)To conclude, similarity is in need in groups most of the time.
Although I concede that similarities is important in many aspects of our daily life, entire similarity without differences would surely do harm to the society and individuals themselves. Similarity is the foundation of further research and a group, while difference is the motivation of innovation. In scientific field, similarities without differences would make scientists reluctant to figure out innovative ideas or make creative experiments. They would just go behind the authorities, without even criticizing or arguing with them. In such an absurd way, the development of science would be slowed down instead of being stimulated. On the other hand, entire similarities in a group lead to agreement and compromise among group members. Furthermore, it is the different characteristics among group members that make teamwork a really fantastic and pleasant procedure. In the final analysis, entire similarity without differences is not beneficial anyway.(这段不错!)
To sum up, although focusing on apparent differences is important encouraged by society, it is also significant to pay more attention to meaningful similarities among ideas, individuals, and groups. |
